I've tried a few and never found any that I like. With that said, I'm from back east where everyone puts cream and sugar in their coffee because we're all coffee lightweights. I do like a cold vanilla latte now and then.
-
I've triedit, never made it for myself though. A little strong for me. I imagine that's how tweakers feel when they need a fix after drinking it. I have a friend who drinks it almost daily, she loves it.

We dump a pound of coffee in 8 quarts of water. Let it sit for a couple days, then filter it.
Serve over ice with a little cream and sweetened condensed milk. Its pretty tasty.
-
That sounds good!

Two things I can't stand is cold coffee and wet toilet paper

Guess you missed the "if they drink cold coffee" part :dunno:
If it keeps my wife from buying pre-brewed starbucks cold coffee for her morning hit the road drink they why not save a couple bucks and make my own?

Black and hot......that sounds weird

I have been on cold coffee kick.
I have just been using leftover brew from the morning and adding 1/2 &1/2 with a little raw sugar. I think when you add the 1/2&1/2 etc it becomes hard to tell the difference over the more in depth cold brewing methods.
Black rifle coffee company coffee rocks BTW

I have a mason jar attachment on my seal a meal so I've been putting 1C coarse ground coffee in a 1/2 gallon mason jar and filling it nearly full with water - suck the air out and let it sit. I haven't got the timing down yet, 20 mins wasn't too good - bitter tasting.
next batch I just dumped 1C of coarse ground in a mason jar and let it sit for 14 hours, strained it with cheese cloth but did not vacuum seal it. Tasted better, stronger though but not so bitter. Very drinkable.
Starbucks has almost no coffee taste to it :dunno: Tastes like whatever you mix it with. Think I prefer some coffee flavor.

Sorry I just always found that a funny saying and was trying to add a little humor. Didn't mean to offend

We may have to move this to Off Topics.......

I'm not sure if its the same with coffie made like ice tea button. After about 10 min normal hot black coffie starts to break down and become more acidic. A shot of cream helps cut the acidity. It's also one of the reasons why that fresh black cup in the morning tastes the best. A cold brew process may retain flavor but not break down after a few min.

Is that a stage name?

I brew about 200 gallons of coldbrew a week for my stores
-
@_TONY_ does cold brewing prevent the coffie from breaking down into its more acidic state?
-
The high acidity in brewed coffee comes with the application of heat in the brew process. When coffee is steeped cold, it prevents most the acids from being extracted out of the raw coffee.
Coffee acidity scale
High= espresso
Medium= gravity coffee (drip), or coffee that's brewed under no pressure (French press, Aero press, siphon etc)
Low= cold brewed coffee
-
IMO, the best coffee beverage on the planet is produced by a Toddy Cold Brew.
The process takes 24 hours but you get a full-flavored concentrate with very little bitterness or acidity that you can then dilute to your preferred strength with ice-water and cream.
Absolutely the best method of coffee consumption in my book! (at least between June-August)

Do you get the same yield as with hot brew and how long does it take? Actually cold water or room temperature? Refrigerate while steeping?

Tagging.

The best I've done so far is 1C coarse ground coffee and 1/2 gallon of water.
pop it in the fridge for 24 hours. Strain through cheese cloth into another 1/2 gallon jar.
I use 1/2 gallon mason jars since I have a bunch of them for cider and plastic lids.
I enjoy it, but others might have something even better.

It's typically a 1/1 ratio of ground coffee to water. I like to run .75/1 brewed for 24hrs at 45 degrees. You'll want to refrigerate while steeping. If you are able, use filtered water to help the shelf life and help keep the microbes under 11,000.

It's typically a 1/1 ratio of ground coffee to water.(eg. One pound coffee per gallon) I like to run .75/1 brewed for 24hrs at 45 degrees. You'll want to refrigerate while steeping. If you are able, use filtered water to help the shelf life and help keep the microbes under 11,000.
