Title: 5 days 50 miles in the Pasayten
Post by: Gutpile on August 22, 2016, 06:55:35 AM
My girl and I took a little hike up in the Pasayten last month and I thought I'd share some pics. We started at the parking lot about 2 miles south Slate peak guard station and headed north on the PCT. It was drizzly that first day but not too bad. We stayed at windy pass for the first evening. Here she is just thrilled that I'm taking pics.

Jet boil and mountain house. YUM! LOL

The next leg was north on the PCT to holman pass and ten we headed east towards Buckskin Ridge. The PCT was well maintained and pretty easy. Heading east off of the PCT was a nightmare. 8 miles of nothing but downed trees. The vegetation was wet from the previous days rain so we were soaked from the knees down. We made it to kidd creek if memory serves and stayed there for the evening.

Bridge at kidd creek. Did I mention the mosquitos? They were BRUTAL, as you can guess from Beth's bug net.

Next leg we headed east to the Buckskin ridge trail headed to Buckskin Lake. Started out with more downed trees but we onnly had a couple of miles to go to get the the Pasayten River and hopefully to some better trail conditions.
This is the Pasayten bridge which seems to be a hub for folks to resupply. This is right near the FS trail crew cabins approx 2 miles north. You can see me getting water under the bridge.

A few pics on the way up Buckskin. The first 4 miles of this hike were a bitch. Steep and more downed trees. It was warm that day to. Just not a lot of fun.

And finally to Buckskin lake. I love these alpine lakes. To me they are the coolest places on earth.

Did a little fly fishing. Nothing giant but a great ay to spend some time. Especially when your girl is a fly fishing fanatic.

Next were off to silver lake. This was an interesting hike. Way harder than it looked on the maps it was wayyyy steeper than the maps would make you think.

Thanks man. I haven't been on much for the last few years. Went through a divorce back in 12' and then started running around dating and just doing different things. Started seeing a gal I was great friends with in high-school and I've sort of settled back in I guess. In fact we got engaged up at Buckskin lake. My bear spot burned last year so I have to find a new spot (SO BUMMED) but I have a few ideas in mind. Hopefully I'll be able to connect

Beautiful pictures. I miss seeing your threads. Hopefully you will be posting some bear pictures soon.

Congratulations. Been there done that so I know what your talking about. Good luck with the bear hunting and make sure you post some pictures if you connect.
