G'day all,
Tried posting on the website but don't think it worked so trying again with Tapatalk.
Names JD and as the title suggests I'm from Australia. Grown up a passionate outdoorsman photography, camping, fishing, chasing varmints, waterfowl and quail but my bread and butter is diy big game hunting.
My favourite deer to hunt is definitely red deer, but also chase fallow and sambar and try to get over to nz every now and then.
I do almost all my hunting with my gundog, a gsp, which we use in Australia for deer hunting.
I dream of getting to the states one day to hunt big game which brings me here, thought it'd be good to meet some like minded hunters.
JD

Some nice critters there. Welcome to hunt-wa and to WA when you make it.
And in before the shrimp on the barbie jokes.

Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing some really cool critters.
Please, if you have time, start a thread explaining how hunting with the dogs work. That's really cool.

And welcome to the forum. :hello:

Good looking animals if one day I would love to hunt the Australian Deer Slam but Sambar and Rusa deer are what I want really bad I think they are beautiful.
-
Welcome! I was in Australia in 2007 but it wasn't for hunting. I would love to return for a hunt one day. If I can, I'll be certain to look you up.

G'day all thanks for the warm welcome.
Sambar certainly are a great species to hunt, public land deer live in some very beautiful but challenging country.
Rusa is the last on the list for me out of the Australian six. Hoping to get a chance on them in the next couple of years. It's all private or with outfitters and I'm really trying to do it all diy.

Really I'd love to hunt for a nice mule deer buck but hunting bull elk in the bugle or archery bear would be great too.

Welcome! It's great to see a hard working hunter from a country we don't hear many hunting stories from!
-
Welcome! I definitely would like to know more about the DIY opportunities in AU and NZ.
-
great pics there, and welcome, weather wise how are your seasons??
-
Happy to help re. Diy hunting.
Seasons are same as yours I'd imagine down here, summer, autumn, spring and winter.
I spose the only difference is that more than other places it's hot and dry, it's not all desert and outback like the movies make it out to be though. We still get snow in some places.
