Title: 2-9-09 Blacktail Shed
Post by: bow4elk on February 08, 2009, 10:22:29 PM: Spent three hours at it today and found this one. He's a buck I've watched all last summer/fall via my trailcams. My daughter and I had been within mere feet of this shed about a week ago and missed it. I wished she was with me today but she was really stoked to see me come through the door with it.

I've got about 10 decent bucks on camera since last summer, and I've spent over 10 hours in what I believe to be their home ranges with (1) shed to show for it. All I can say is you guys on the eastside have it easy when it comes to deer sheds :chuckle:

You have never been to the Desert. :chuckle: You have 1 more shed to show for your time than I do. nice shed

I know, it's not easy anywhere you go. You have to put in the time and miles to make your own luck. The only exception was in 1994 when I picked up 26 muley sheds in one day while hunting elk in New Mexico (unit 16B in the Gila). I've never even come close to that kind of shed hunting action anywhere else. I wasn't even looking for them either. Late in the day I had a bull cranked up and while I was set up to call him in, I noticed a nice 150" class match set out about 60 yards. I quickly ran out there to grab them and buggered up the bull :bash:
