Seen this on Facebook, says Rez bull.
-
Ya think?
-
That's a bruiser.
-
Great looking bull there no matter where it was taken.
-
I'd say Colville rez due to a couple of the people in the pic.
-
It's a Colville Rez bull
-
Nice Bull.
-
Hope to beat that muzzy season in gmu 340!
-
First thing I thought was colville. Awesome bull. That place has some awesome animals.
-
Still nice bull.

Yep Colville, I know a couple guys in that photo.

Hope to beat that muzzy season in gmu 340!
I definitely want to see the elk you beat that with ! (340)
-
Gorgeous animal.
-
That is a great Bull and love that bonus 3rd eyeguard on the 1 side.
-
Most definitely a Rez bull. A very good one. Congrats to the Hunter. Some serious hunters in that pic.
-
Beautiful bull!
-
This is a monster 9x10 taken with a bow measured out at 427" congrats to Jared Erickson
-
Dandy bull elks right there!
-
What a monster

Here's another photo

What's up with all the camo? I can only guess that they were hunting with their windows rolled down....... :chuckle: :chuckle:

Why would you say something like that? The guys in that photo live hunting 24/7/365.
-
What a beast!
-
Ya I THINK about hunting elk 24/7/365 but I only get to hunt this state 9 days.
My sarcasm about the camo is my guess this bull was loaded in the back of a truck whole like most quality road hunters.
-
My family spent time with one of the guys in that photo's family at Stampede one year (second week of August) and he brought his bow and a rag bag target and was practicing his shooting every spare minute he got getting ready for the September 1 opener. I can promise you that these guys are out in the field every chance they get.
When they get lucky and get a bull down where it can be loaded whole, they did a lot to make that luck happen. If I had been following an elk I was targeting all summer you better believe that if I could put it down where I could get a truck to it that I would try to take advantage of that situation.

One of the most ignorant posts I have read in awhile, you have no idea who these guys are or how much time they spent after this bull.

I couldn't agree more. Someone must be jealous. Nice bull, great work guys.

Maybe I shouldn't have stereotyped. I am quite sure that I have spent more time on the winter range than you. Please come over into any of the yakima elk areas and watch what happens to our elk as they come out of the mountains. I have yet to see a native hiking over a ridge or backpack a bull out yet! It truly puts a bad taste in my mouth.
Jealous? Not a bit. My other mistake was taking a jab at a tribal hunt on their own reservation. I totally support them hunting on their land whenever they want. When they hunt "ceded" land they should follow wdfw rules...

They're not Yakama. They're colville tribe, and there's a huge difference between the way the colvilles manage their wildlife and hunt and the way the Yakama tribe does things.

Huge difference. Both fish and big game.

Two of the guys in that picture could probably walk circles around you and still make it to the top of the mountain first. You shouldn't discount their hunting ethics or skill just because you dislike tribal hunts. Do a little research or ask some questions. I'm sure you could get some quick answers if you have a Facebook page... Check out RBBP, and ask away. ;)

That is an awesome bull! We all know Elk hunting is hard and no matter who you are or where you hunt it is a challenge and the harvest should be commended. Congrats to the hunter!

:yeah: just because you don't see them out there hiking doesn't mean they arnt out there. there is more hiking out there then you think

All four of them. There are four pretty tough hombre's in that picture. I might also add that these guys spend a lot of time w/kids, their own and relatives/neighbors kids, out in the field and one of the young fellas in that picture and his wife volunteered to raise kids that are not their biological children and that is in addition to raising their biological kids.

Like this one? If that looks like the guy in the elk photo above to you, then you are right. These pics are off their facebook page. I have a bunch that I have scanned that are older, mostly Polaroids, and some of them make this buck look common.

Lol...u must be a racist or inexperienced to think like that. Remember you said/think that cuz u will be embarrassed of your self once u become happer with your life and or get more time out in the woods. I remember back when i was a kid and didn't have that many harvests i under my belt i used to get jealous too bud...don't worry man it won't always be like that for you.

And that is one heck of a fine young man holding the buck in that photo.
I have a photo of another buck he shot [in 2013 IIRC], but I can't locate it. I spent some time digging around on my old computer yesterday evening, it was replaced because it was old and had a virus that I just didn't feel like dealing with. I will try some more tonight.

Exactly why I quit posting. Everyone of those guys put in tons of miles and do a lot of scouting. I will vouch for each one of them that they are top notch and are great hunters.

I don't understand why so many are ok with being able to hunt pretty much whenever? Yeah it's an awesome bull but I'm sure a lot of us could kill some huge animals if we followed native rules. It's just hard for me to care when a native shoots an animal.
-

You are welcome to your opinion. You are always hating. Many of those animals are from sound management, just saying. I don't know why some must pirate pics that are not theirs and post on here.
-

I hunt island blacktails where there are a LOT of big bucks.
Most hunters take a doe or a mediocre two point. A few more will take a decent buck. Some stumble onto a whammer buck once in their lifetime. Then there are the few who know how to outsmart the big ones and get them frequently... or get skunked about a third of the time. All on private property.
It's just hard to care when about your situation when I have access to properties that make it possible for us to get opportunities on island blacktails that most people are denied the opportunity to hunt.
To bad, so sad. You didn't develop the relationships with property owners, who know other property owners that seek us out to get our crew to come over and hunt property they have not trusted anyone to hunt on in twenty years. Gee my heart bleeds for you.
Guess what? Mature bucks trash fruit stock and topiary unmercifully and that is what really PO's people. Small bucks just rub them and does just nibble them. I had a lady tell me that it cost her more to high fence her property than she paid for it! If she knew that someone would target and kill the mature bucks, she could have lived with the rest of the destruction. Hint, hint.
My friends I hunt with and I made that happen and it burns your butt to a crisp that we have opportunities you don't get. Doesn't it?
Guess what sore looser, if you put forth the effort these four guys do, to develop the resources that are available to you by building relationships with the poor slobs who not only pay the taxes on the land, they are working like a slave on that land 24/7/365 to keep the tradition alive - you too would have opportunities that others are envious of and are off limits to those who are just sitting there complaining about their lack of opportunity to advantage of.
These Tribal members have a small piece of Washington State that could be just another half-way decent place to pursue their passion for hunting on. But, guess what smart guy? They are the ones that have made it a priority for the Tribe to recognize the value of that resource and jealously protect what little land they have left of what their forefathers once had.

It's an elk killed in September with a bow.

And they wait patiently for the season to open. They are not free to hunt pretty much whenever. Some Colville poach (just like some people everywhere poach) pretty much whenever, and if you think that the Tribal sportsmen don't have a problem with that then there is no intelligent conversation to be had on this topic with you. You have yourself convinced that what is demonstrably false is fact and there is nothing to be had with having a conversation with a closed minded .....
(Please keep the name calling out of this)
That young man who no longer posts here because of the unwarranted abuse that some here heap on Tribal members is right not to post here, and ya' know what? That is our loss. I am friends with Tribal members and I can tell you straight up that these guys have a lot that they could share that would help our members, but they have their own forum now and none of them come here much at all any longer and none of them share anything here. And it is because of people like you that they don't.
-
Where are the moderators? Big man name calling on the forum. I'm just posting my opinion. Everyone should follow same rules.

Your opinion regarding the hunting opportunity the Colville Tribal members enjoy is demonstrably false. It was posted in an attempt to belittle the achievement of this young man who worked his tail off for over two years to get the bull he was after. I guarantee you that if you had put forth the effort he did, you could locate a trophy bull on public land and have a shot at taking him before anyone else got to him. It happens all the time and I admire those who have shared their success right here on this forum doing just that. No one worked harder than that young man to make this happen for him and he most certainly doesn't deserve to have his achievement belittled.

Shot out of season in my option.
-
Shot out of season in my option.
That is a damnable lie. That bull was shot during the Tribal Archery Season and that means it was shot in season. And, for your information, their Archery Season and many, if not most of the State of Washington's Archery Season, is open the same dates.
-
Shot out of season in my option.
You do understand the bull was killed within the colville reservation and within the boundaries of their set season, right? It wasn't killed on "ceded" land etc in February on the winter range.
-
Shot out of season in my option.
You're essentially saying that all the Bulls killed in Oregon and WA since September 1st are all killed out of season. This makes literally no sense. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion I guess, but try and keep it logical.
-
"He's been hunting this bull for 3 yrs now and he has a ton of trail cam pics.. a great story!! It's also his 1st archery kill."
Got it? Two years in a row he got shut out by this bull. But he kept at it. When the season ended he waited until it opened again the following year.
-
I found this scan of a Polaroid of a big Colville whitetail. Hopefully I can get that old machine to give up the rest of the scans of old pictures that are on the hard drive.
-
I could be wrong, but I want to say the two younger guys were members on here back in the early days.
-
Great bull, jealousy is a ugly think :bash: :bash: :bash:
-
Imo, the Wdfw could learn a lot from how the colville tribe manages their wildlife. Colville and Spokane tribes have very strict management of wildlife and hunting.
-
so what could wdfw learn from them? Im pretty sure they already know that if you limit the population hunting an area you will end up with plentiful animals. so unless wdfw plans on removing a few million of us out of wa then our limited public lands cant get much better.
-
:chuckle:

Predator management for starters....
-
funny Ive seen more bears, coyotes and cougars driving through the res then anywhere else in the state, they must manage them to stay on the highway pretty well. trust me I don't agree with much wdfw does but when a handful of people have some of the best land in our state it makes it look real well managed very easily. hancock kapowsin land is also very well managed if your into looking at elk you cant hunt

Washington archery opened September 10 for everyone unless you drew a special tag. Right? So yes September 1st is out of season.

One of the guys pictured is my cousin and he's about as legit as a hunter as they come, the real deal. His dad has also killed some monsters over the years.
This elk was killed on the reservation during their archery season and the colville archery elk season runs pretty consistent with most of the western states as far as archery elk hunting goes.
Jealousy is a bitter pill.

Nice bull and congrats to your cousin!
And good for the Colville tribe for managing the way they do. Maybe they could come show the muckleshoots how to do that...
-
Sovereign nation's have their own laws just like different states have their own laws. It was shot in season and some folks are just jealous. Usually the same folks who don't even get out of the rig in the mountains and throw garbage out the window while they rant about how it's someone else's fault they don't have what they want... I don't get it when I hear this. :dunno:
-
I am jealous. I have to follow *censored* laws for hunting cause I'm white. I am just one of the few that has the guts to say anything. I'm sure he is an awesome hunter, never said he was not. I don't know any of the native rules but I do know that when I am hunting in an area with a bow, and native are driving around shooting bulls with a rifle how is that fair?
-
Why I even say anything I don't know. Yes I just drive around in my rig, throw my garbage out the window and have never havested an animal.
-

It's clear to me that is what you're trying to say. All I'm trying to say is open your mind a little. The Colvilles are different than the Yakamas and whatever tribal members from Idaho are riding around the Blues in December shooting elk on the winter range. The Colvilles manage their wildlife and their hunting for the good. Don't lump them all into the same basket. It makes you look like you don't know what you're talking about. It's got nothing to do with what you have the guts to say.
-
A HUGE bull, CONGRATULATIONS on a true trophy indred. Sweet!!!!!!👍👍👍👍😁😎

I was just generalizing like you were doing. You might be the guy who hikes 15 miles a day and just haven't gotten lucky yet. That's me every time I go out hunting elk. I hike all day and some guy by the road jumps out and shoots an elk. Luckily I've managed to harvest several cows during REGULAR season and that sits fine with me. If you just want a big elk rack call a fenced ranch and shoot a freak with triple royals and post it on here. :dunno:
-
Great looking animal no matter who took it. My impression from many threads on HuntWA is that the Colville's do a great job with wildlife management. In addition, their hunting rights are protected by treaties, treaties we probably changed on them several times over the last century. Why not just acknowledge a great animal taken and leave the gross generalizations and negativity out of the discussion. Sounds a lot like sour grapes to me. :dunno:
-
Corey's dad just nailed a gorgeous ram. Transplant from Clemans probably. @JoeE
There are still some things that can be ironed out and some frustration over ceded areas in the north half, but it's a far cry from what we deal with down here in Yakima and has nothing to do with this bull. At this point the WDFW would screw up the Rez.
Yes, there are still a lot of predators over on the Rez, but they manage them. There is a difference. It can sustain more predators as there are more game animals. The balance is "bigger".
-
Yeah bone I saw that Corey and Joe got a nice ram down in Hellsgate yesterday. I knew he'd get a nice one in there.

"There's a snail in the desert?" "Yeah, a spaceship dropped him off!" Come on JD don't focus on the wrong part of the story. I never cover more than a few miles in a day hunting unless it's wide open country around the Palouse hill's. The point was that some people put in alot of effort for the reward and some people don't do anything but throw beer can's and burn fuel and still get the same thing. Some people buy winning lotto ticket's, some don't. Life goes on...

I would like to see this ram you speak of Bone. Sadly they probably won't be posting it because of all the flack.
-
It isn't "flack." It is out and out bigotry and the fact that some people post it here thinking they will find a receptive and appreciative audience for it is telling. Everyone who follows the rules and practices good sportsmanship should feel welcome here, and the fact that some don't is really not one bit cool.
Here's a photo of Joe's Ram
-
REAL NICE RAM.
-
Very cool ram! Thanks JD! One of my number one dream hunt's is to shoot a ram. Preferably a stone sheep but it'll probably never happen. I don't make enough money and don't have enough free time to get away for a hunt like that.
-
Ya I THINK about hunting elk 24/7/365 but I only get to hunt this state 9 days.
My sarcasm about the camo is my guess this bull was loaded in the back of a truck whole like most quality road hunters.
You either have information about this specific kill that you should share with the group or you're making gross generalizations about someone's elk based on prejudice and ignorance. Pick one.

nice ram joe

Thanks everyone who had kind words to say. Have thought long and hard about commenting on this post and whether I should even reply. I have been after this bull for a couple years that I named King Kong. Hunted roughly 16 days of our 30 day archery season last year with no luck on him. This year I went out looking for him in the general area we were in not thinking id actually get a shot at him, let alone see or hear him. Long story short he presented me with a shot at roughly 35 yards, he was hit and went 150 yards and tipped over. All of this was on a GoPro and a camcorder of the shot. The whole hunt was almost screwed up because of how many roads we got. Yes I got the animal out whole with some work but I'd rather personally have areas with less roads. When we first started after this bull we had a gentlemen checking on his cows drive roughly 200 yards below this bull not evening know he was there with his metal racks clanking around and Diesel engine making a ton of noise. I don't know how many buddies hunts who have been screwed up by vehicles. Getting animals out it is an advantage but as far as the hunting goes it makes it a lot tougher because of the amount of roads we got. We had to cut out an old logging road that was brushed over 1/2 mile to get closer to the animal to get it out whole. With regards to how hard I hunt I won't try to sit here and decend myself but I hunt every season of every year hard and I'll leave it at that.
-
Awesome! You put in the work and got rewarded, well done!
-
Good job! Nice bull.

Nm
-
That's an awesome picture with the bull in the bed!
-
I am going to try to make it to the Nespelem Horn Show next year, hope to see it there.
-
I see the live horn show every time I drive through the Rez while heading up for late buck :chuckle:

Getting animals out it is an advantage but as far as the hunting goes it makes it a lot tougher because of the amount of roads we got. We had to cut out an old logging road that was brushed over 1/2 mile to get closer to the animal to get it out whole. With regards to how hard I hunt I won't try to sit here and decend myself but I hunt every season of every year hard and I'll leave it at that.
Awesome Bull. Congratulations!

Awesome bro bull no need to defend yourself to the ignorance. It's obvious that the people who are running their mouths have no knowledge of what type of hunter you are. The reservation does anot excellent job with their game management, and if the caliber of bucks and Bulls that get shot aren't a testament to that I don't know what is. Again congrats and pay no mind to the haters. Thank you for coming here and sharing more pictures as well as the story!

WOW! What a bull. Congrats to the hunter!

Taken out whole?
Read the story. I guess you could say he was in the right place at the right time.
See what I did there?

Congratulations on the awesome bull! Sorry you feel reluctance to say more. Unfortunately there are others who for reasons of jealousy, narrow/closed minds, or just plain, flat out racism, can't accept others success (especially when those others are not just like them!)
Would love to see your video posted if you choose to do so.

Well piss in the plants, that is a freaking monster! Good job dude!
A guy on my project has been showing me his trail cam pics of some Rez whiteys! Some beautiful animals running around there for sure!

I would hope that you ignore some of the idiots here and continue to share your hunts. There are several of us here that understand how hard you and your friends hunt, and truly enjoy the stories and pictures. There will always be idiots that have issues with rez hunts.... Forget about them.

Boy that's a dandy Bull Elks that needs to be shared! Thank you!

Can't beat a hard earned trophy of a lifetime like that. Easily the best legal bull ever taken off this rez.

There are roads all over The Rez. This kid is a hound hunter, he knows every one of them even the grown over ones.

Congratulations to the hunter.

Just a question and compliment. :dunno:

Don't let it get to you brother. I've shared very few stories of my hunts and even fewer pics because of these that choose to be ignorant. I debated to share my goat hunt last year but did.
Your hunt is your hunt and the memories taken from it are yours and those involved. Let the naysayers complain and bicker be proud of your success because in the end it's you and yours that matter.

I say if someone posts a successful legal hunt and you bash them, you earned a nice lifetime ban. It's a hunting forum, if you keep turning people away from posting their successful hunts and stories, all we are gonna have is political debates!
Dude this is a bull of a lifetime, congratulations! I can't believe how big he is and I can't imagine what you felt putting your hands on him for the first time!

:yeah: 3 of the 4 elk I have killed have been taken out whole. 1 cow, 1 yearling, and my 5x6 bull. what's wrong with bringing them out whole? :dunno:

Not a thing and The Rez is cut up by roads everywhere. Some of them are grown over, but if you know where they are it isn't hard to drive up close in a lot of areas, especially the ones the elk hang out in.

Congrats that's an awesome bull!
