Spent the last few days sighting in the rifles getting the gear packed picking a new spot to try in case they do not open chiwawa. Still need to load some more ammo. And get some grub. 5 am weenies day can't come soon enough. My son slash hunting partner may be a little behind. But he's got tomorrow off. Good luck to all you hardy hunters that brave the heights of our lovely state.
-
Same here, gonna try a new spot since there is such extreme fire danger up the Entiat that nobody can enter :rolleyes:what a joke
-
Really wish I could hunt it this year. Love hunting the high country. Good luck to everyone that goes out this year. Please post pics for us losers that can't make it.
Regards, Branden

Skyvalhunter,
Before you - and presumably others, get too excited about marching up LG, you might want to check the FS's closure map.

Is lg little giant cuz that is closed and I talked to them today. No plans to reopen any closures though she did say I could call back tomorrow or Wednesday to see if anything had changed
-
Yes. LG=Little Giant.
Given the scope of the Buck Creek / Saul closure (not to mention the Entiat!), it's definitely going to displace the High Buck guys to other areas. Some of them might be tempted to try going into the Napeequa or Boulder even though the White River road closure adds mileage to an already considerable haul.
:bdid:
That would be one of those monumentally stupid errors in judgment I've alluded to in past High Buck posts.
Why? I know for a fact that the usual crews are already camped/spiked out in the Butterfly, upper Napeequa and High Pass areas sitting behind the big glass...with at least one more going in tonight ( ;) )and even more guys scheduled for later this week into Boulder. I hope the Napeequa and Boulder drainages won't turn out to be an even worse zoo due to the fire closure displacement than they have been in recent years. Some people only learn the hard way.
-
So there's deer in the upper napeequa sweet see ya we'd morning. Lol. Just kidding same as last year to avoid the circus me an my kid went into the lower napeequa via twin lakes 5 miles in. What a jungle tons of good sign if you don't mind still hunting there is deer in there just not for us. It was fun though.

No Success reports yet????

I gave up nothing. It was a courtesy. Re-read his post, then my post, then the quote embedded in your post.
I simply didn't want Sky's (and other's) dreams/plans crushed if he drove up the Chiwawa and saw the closure signage, and then have to make alternative plans at the last second without his friends or family possibly not knowing his general whereabouts.

Don't want to hijack this thread but what and how do you make your own energy bars?
Thanks

I just looked up several recipes and made my own up. It took about 4 batches before I came up with what I liked best.
Also try peanut butter and bacon bits on bagel sandwiches. Learned about it on this site. They don't smash. They are light and have lots of protein, fat, carbs and salt.
