Title: Rebellious Child - Need Help (...with youth hunting...)

My 12 year old daughter drank the archery cool-aid and does not want anything to do with a rifle or muzzleloader.... she's gone to the dark side and I am a parent in great need of help. Those awful dealers at the nock point continue to push her addiction (someone has called it arrow affliction??), and I no longer have any control over her. They have her shooting 41 pounds, and now she wants to go hunting. sheesh. I have given up. I no longer try to gain back her alegiance to the modern world as it is a lost cause. I know what you are thinking... I must be a very bad parent, or she had freinds that pressured her into that crazy world... nope.. she said she wanted to "take her own deer the hard way". As you can see by my avatar I'm no slouch- but know nothing of the underworld of arrow flingers. So I must turn to you folks for guidance, support, and prayers....

OK- sorry.... wanted you all to have a good chuckle... in all seriousness, my daughter has a passion for the bow, and has been shooting a hoyt compound recreationaly and now wants to shoot her own deer... much to my mother in law's dismay (hee hee).. I'm a modern/mz hunter that focusses on out of state hunts and private land in Palouse - not good for bow hunting... I am a fish out of water when it comes to archery season and in-state bow hunting areas.

so.....

Wondering if anyone would be gracious enough to help us with a place in eastern washington for my daughter to hunt. I won't be hunting- just helping and doing the dad thing... but if you are, or know someone who is willing to provide land access where she can bow hunt one weekend during september it would be much appreciated.

You can hunt on DNR land, but I'm still trying to figure out the federal forest lands. If it doesn't come up showing public lands go to the top right corner and change "basemap" to Public/Tribal lands. And if you're wondering what all those colors mean hit the same button then go down to more info. Good luck!

She needs some guidance on form and it looks like the 41lbs is too much, she's arching her back and got a death grip on the bow and going to torque the string off the cam wheel.

It's fantastic she's showing such enthusiasm :tup:

(and who say's you can't arrow a buck in the Palouse, you just gotta get down on your belly and crab crawl into the wind :chuckle: )

That's her very first draw of a bow off the shelf in the pro shop...they just wanted to see how she would do drawing an adult bow vs. junior bow. After we purchased they set it up MUCH lower and we've worked up to 41 since then... and after much practice. She's been getting instruction so we are good to go!

Excellent. That seems the best option for the time being. Take LokiDog up on his offer if Spokane doesn't work---the islands need some visitors, you won't be sorry.
