Title: Kuiu Vias camo pattern
Post by: NORTH_DUB on September 23, 2016, 09:01:17 AM: I love all of my Kuiu Yukon gear I purchased in Vias camo, only thing missing is the pack system. Was wondering if the Vias pattern would still be effective on the west side or would I stick out like a sore thumb? Maybe invest in the Verde 2.0 for the west side?

With that in mind, it probably doesn't make a lot of difference. However, I've seen some videos of guys hunting Western WA clearcuts in the late season where the only color we have is the green of doug fir reprod and dead brown stuff, and in my opinion, they stuck out horribly. Would they stick out to a deer? I don't know. I do know that I feel much more confident in the Verde in those conditions.

I would go verde 2.0 still has some lighter patterns but they gray color helps mellow it out and the more green base would probably blend in more.

I'll probably have to purchase the verde anyways because I love the gear, walked through some reprod last year in Vias and thought I was sticking out. Vias is great for the high rocky areas for sure.

Had an elk look through me when I was wearing it on the wet side all green foliage

That said, I think the verde looks cool

Post by: fisheral87 on September 23, 2016, 11:03:54 AM: There is some good information that I have found discussing the different variables around camo types, one I found informative being the gentleman that developed Fusion for First lite. Some of the big takeaways from those for me individually have been variation in pattern size as well as color, materials and how the shades can vary a great deal and the importance of hunting/woodsmanship skill in combination with concealment, natural and otherwise.

The Verde pattern IMO has more micro characteristics which from what I have heard is important for closer encounters.

As a rifle hunter I like vias because it has more macro characteristics which conversely to a more micro pattern will not blob together as much at greater distance.

7mmfan and I were out this year on the westside, while sitting on an old cut hillside doing some calling he did not immediately notice me at ten yards sitting very still in some tall grass in Vias/multicam combination and neither did the doe who came into 80 yards.

I don't think you can go wrong but depending on the nature of the majority of your encounters one may make more sense than another. I'm going Verde for my rain gear.
