My partner drew a Selkirk tag, any advice from locals or past tag holders is much appreciated. You can PM me or call/text 360-359-1109. Basically looking for good start off points with good densities. Thankyou in advance, of course I will return with some pics should we find a bull worthy of this tag!

South end. Watch your property lines.
-
Goodluck.
-
Thanks guys, we got the GPS chip, maps, etc.

This the first tag worthy of getting excited about for my partner. He is 60 years old, a very accomplished hunter, but the luck of the draw hasn't been on his side until now. He had 13 points, and we leave for Thursday and are about as excited as you can be. Thanks again to all ofor you that have reached out by text, phone calls, and personal messages. I am not as exciting as writer as some of you, but I will be sure to try and keep you all.posted. Just not sure what kind of reception I will get over there.
-
Good luck to him
-
I'll be there goofing off. Might see you

Looking forward to your hunt reports. I remember writing them late at night last nov.
Those were good times not soon forgotten.
Hope you friend finds the bull he is looking for.
Good hunting

Thick country, seen shooter bull day before season. Putting on the miles. A few whitetails, grouse, but moose have been hiding

Rains coming in. Makes for crappy photography but happy moose

Nope. He needs to be above the road so you can back up to the bank and slide him in.

Wel true but I could break him down there without weeping. Hope to have to pick your brain for a kid tag soon since I'll never drawn I've determined.

No moose Saturday or Sunday. Today One cow, one dink bull and a bull in the brush beating a tree we never could see. Alot of country is closed due to last year's fire, they are logging the hell out above Kings Lake, ol Baldy is closed for access. We found a couple spots that have good sign, we are just gonna keep hiring em. They will payou off eventually. Seen about 5 tag holders so far and everyone is struggling to find the bulls
-
Bull down, yesterday about 7:15. When I get home I will type up more of a story and pics, with the laptop. Very few moose seen. Thick country, called the one we killed in the day before but he got down wind and busted off. Thankyou to all of you who gave us information. It was a big help. The burn area is still closed off, but the burn we did get into was void of life.

Awesome!
Can't wait for pics....

Did you subcontract your story writing to PlateauNdn or something?

There is a big learning curve for moose and the Selkirk. As Bone alludes it is as thick as dog hair, there is some old cuts and bald knobs.

But there isn't moose on every corner to choose from. We talked with several tag holders and none of them had seen a single bull, or were willing to talk about it anyway. The community of folks in that neck of the woods is very helpful. We seen a nice bull with triple brows the day before season, and we were optimistic that we would be patient and hold out for a bigger bull.

As I said earlier we went the next 2 days without seeing a single moose. We decided to divide and conquer. The night prior a local had made some observations of some good moose sign, and he left a detailed note in camp of where to go and what he observed. The tag holder and I had also found some good sign that he wanted to check out. As it turns out we should have all followed the directions the local left us. Out partner without a tag found two bulls and a cow. The first bull had no paddles just a young bull. He cruised by them just a little ways and found a tree shaking as a bull was taking out some aggression. Without seeing this bull he hurried back to camp hoping we would return shortly. Of course that didn't happen and we returned a couple hours later. We immediately went back in and got no response as we walked in and started calling.
We noticed alot of scrapes, which were a couple feet wide or more and upto a foot deep. We were unaware that moose left these calling cards before were started this journey. They became frequent observations on these old grassy roads and ultimately led us to our success. Tuesday afternoon we found another likely area on a ridge top. We were awestruck with the amount of sign. We walked out the old road and setup near the best sign for a another calling setup. We had tried this multiple times with zero results. I had made observations from several moose videos over the years and did my best to imitate them. This time with the first cow call I heard something coming in my direction. Of course from directly behind me and moving in to the direction of our wind. We had great cat and mouse exchange for about 10 minutes as we grunted at one another. He was just over the slope of the hill, and finally caught our wind and blew out. We returned the next morning, we just got out of the truck and got ourselves organized. As I shut the truck door, he stood up. He was just about 50 yards away, my partner walked down the road and got a 15 yard shot.
Our original goal was 50 inches, but my partners time and money were limited. Our expectations were decreasing by the day but none the less we are very proud of this bull.

That is awesome. Glad you found a nice one. I know what it's
Like to struggle abit finding a decent bull. Congrats👊💥👊

Congrats on the bull. Nothing like getting to unload the pressure of an OIL tag from your shoulders and wrap it around a set of antlers. Now comes the best part, eating that bad boy!
-
For anyone still hunting moose in 113 I would check the NE slope of moon hill and the moon creek drainage. I've run across a lot of moose in there in October and November
