when you guys are out hunting sheds on the eastside. on those big open hills...
do you guys ever just sit in one place and glass with a spotting scope or bino's to find sheds? seems that with alot of them just laying in the open, and the quality of glass most of you guys have. finding them laying on a trail out to 300yds shouldnt be a problem.
the main reason i was thinking this is due to having a bad back, knees, and ankles will make it hard for me to constantly put on miles looking for sheds.

I have found them all ways, stumbling on them, glassing them up and also finding from the rig. You would b surprised on how many i have found just looking on the side of a road while i am on my way up to a spot.Usually if u find em with your binos u can spot more than 1 and get em all at one time unstead of seein one and bustin over to it take your time and glass everything
thats what i plan on doing. ive got some reports from my buddies parents in law that live in methow that the bucks that usually are in thier yards eating apples on winter are gone nowhere to be seen for the last week...
this is 9-13 bucks, 3 of them are 160" bucks or close to it.
but they dont know about the whole shedding of antlers, or even go look for them. so im gonna head over there and hunt around on the private property across the highway.
i found 3 eaten up sheds 4 years ago while hunting over there. 2 were a matched set but after the mice got to them they were about 110" set. might have been close to 150" before the tines were chewed up.

there is one solid trail that comes over the hill and across the highway to thier property.
ive been over there 3 or 4 times and never once thaught to hunt sheds. the guy who owns the big lot of land hunts them in the spring so thats why i never see any during hunting season.
BUT this season he got the matched set he was looking for, 170+" so he says. so he gave me permission to come on over and hunt the rest. i just waiting till its a little warmer sence i have noone to compete with.

I find a lot of them when I am glassing hill sides. But dont get discouraged when you think you have spotted one and hike acrossed a big valley only to find that it was a stick that looked like an antler :bash:.
i do that alot during elk season...thing is that the elk are not in the area i hunt when they are dropping antlers. so idk why i always get excited when i think i see a shed.
