So I picked up a used wall tent and it has a ridge pole opening but doesn't have the eave sleeves to extend the rest of the frame out for a porch. Have any of you just cut a hole and ran the frame out? Maybe just cut an x? I don't wanna ruin the tent and have it start tearing or fraying if I cut an opening

Have used a second frame. Set up the original frame and canvas. Then got alders about eight inches in diameter and built a separate frame over the canvas and put big tarps over that. Didn't have to cut into the tent. Just have to cut a tarp instead where the stove jack goes through.

Seems like it wouldn't be terribly expensive to have it modified. I wouldn't cut the canvas without something in place to stop the fray and tearing that's bound to happen

I would take it in but the upholstery shop that did my last repairs took a month to get it done because there so busy and I got just a few weeks till I need it....he gave me some canvas scraps and told me that tear mender is great stuff for patches and repairs and though about that....Ill probably just borrow my buddies awning and throw it in front to save any hassle with it
