I've had this guy visiting during the day, but I didn't think the rut was on yet.
-
Shoot it! :yike:
-
Let the air out with an arrow
nice looking blackie, I doubt I'd shoot one in my driveway
-
He's already got that drive ;) Nice!
-
Rope it and tame if for a pet!

Don't do this! Bad idea.

:chuckle: ya think?

"So I had this idea to rope a deer and put it in the barn and feed it corn all year...." I think that is how the story goes.
-
Nice looking buck

I don't think I could shoot any of my yard deer!
Now Rick, what's the story you started about roping a deer for a pet???

Stick it. My only unethical hunting shortfall is I believe if I own property (one day) & there is game on it and I need meat to feed my family they will be a living target for bow practice. Most call it poaching, I call filling my tag/ kids tummies out of season.

If you literally NEED the meat to feed your family, as in they would otherwise starve, then it no longer poaching but rather survival.
-
Dont hesitate!!!!

if you get to the point that you own property with game on it you wouldn't need to poach to feed your family. You would be a property owner things couldn't be bad enough to poach if you can afford to own property.

Ripe with Logic.

Stud buck, great pic

Nice one Dave. Someone's (or some car) going to take that guy - legal or not.
I used to have a great photo that I got off the Oregon hunting board showing a guy in cowboy boots, cowboy hat, running shorts and a T shirt on a dead run(shot from behind) with lasso spinning in the air and a 3-point blacktail buck running from him as it looked over his shoulder at the "cowboy" in fright. Absolutely hilarious. It was my Windows Desktop background for years, but I lost it when I sent my laptop in for repair. :'(
-
He definitely looks rutty dumb to me.
-
Thats a pig!

....unless you're talking about six years ago, when everyone was loosing their homes to bad mortgages. That'll never happen again, well at least for a few years anyways.

It's not illegal if no one hears it :chuckle:

Let that bad boy spread his genes! Nice buck!

Because it is? :dunno:

I have 3 forks at my place and am waiting for a bigger buck. If that guy showed up I wouldn't hesitate to tag him lol.
-
:yeah:

Or down at the end of our block. 5x6 if you count the long brow tines. He runs with some real big ones and he is no slouch in his own right. He's old now, he was a real Jim Dandy in his prime.
You might want to ask him if the rut has started?
-
can't tell you how many BT's I wanted to shoot on our property that my wife deemed off limits. The worst was a nice 3x4 that showed up during late rifle hunt that was chasing 3 does all over our property for almost 10 minutes and I video taped him.

You still have that video?
-
I saw one bigger by costco in Issaquah but couldn't get my phone out in time to get a picture. He was standing there watching two dog's.
-
I've had a few smaller bucks coming by, mostly at night. This old timer, white face and open mouth, came by a few days ago in the middle of the day. Maybe I should charge for hunting on my 5 acres!
-
Still out there chasing the girls. Good to see.
-
that's a different buck than the first one!
-
Oh yeah, h was a 4 x 4 right? Maybe this is the same buck, but he regressed during the season. :chuckle:

Didn't work... needed a bigger rope. lol

I wouldn't call him that to his face. I saw him turn a full grown Saint Bernard into a bathmat in less than 30 seconds. Broke damn hear every bone in his body.

I'm a little late but I'll back this. When my mom was growing up on the farm in Montana they had some leannnnn years where they could only afford what they could grow as spare in the garden and what they could kill. They dropped 5 deer one night to have as meat to get through the winter. If you really need it, do it imo.
-
If you "really" need it, does anybody really "need" it? If so, kill a big fat doe before the rut. Let those pet bucks spread their seed far and wide.
-
Notice: To all hunters with unfilled tag - There is a hot doe somewhere in the vicinity of Gobble Doc's yard.
Notice: To Gobble Doc - Duck!
(nice pics - thanks for posting!)
