Does anyone on here have any experience with recovering a hide from a taxidermist when they won't contact you any more? What are my options? I am military and don't live in Washington any more. First bear and with a bow to boot and its been three years since drop off. Ideas? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

What's the name of the taxidermist? On this site that will help a lot...
Also there is a search option on this site that may be extremely informative depending on the name of the taxi... Just type in their company and have a good read.

I'm sure everyone on here knows who this is about, I would ask someone who lives local to the area and have them pick it up for you. I'd be glad to but its a bit of a drive for me. I know we have members who live right around there.

Yeah I don't want to call out names, this has been re hashed a bunch of times. Its my fault for not doing research. But I can't even arrange someone to go by there if I can't get a response of some kind.

Generally "some of them" are easier to get their attention on facebook

The fact you are military will get this community behind you and apply a lot of pressure

I would send a certified letter to the taxidermist. That way you know they got it. Tell the taxidermist you have someone coming to pick your hide up and need a response back with a date and time to pick it up. I'm sure someone from this forum would be more than happy to help you out and get your trophy back to you. I would be more than happy to help you if it's relatively close to bremerton.

Thank you for the offer. It's quite a haul from bremeton though and I would hate to waste someone's time. If anyone is friends with her and is willing to reach out and see what the deal is that would be great. I am at a loss.

Yet another. :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
Facebook from what I hear. Short of legal action threat I don't know what else has worked in the past.

So if I am able to find someone to pick it up for me and I can somehow get a hold of the taxi and arrange the pick up what are some things to look for to ensure the hide isn't ruined in transit? Any ideas on how it should be shipped? it was supposedly back from the tannery two years ago.
Thanks for the support.
-
If it's back from the tannery, then just keep it dry. It would ship fine. That's a party line though. If it's in the bottom of the freezer, that's a different story

The first half dozen threads like this were funny. Now not so much. :sry:

Thanks for the offer. Will pm if I get any contact at all.

If it's a certain female taxidermist, enter her name in the search function, sit back with a strong drink, and be ready to read for a couple of hours.
No need to send info via PM's if it's her, you won't be telling the forum anything that hasn't been discussed before. Sorry you have to deal with this, best of luck!
