Title: Moose tooth age survey
Post by: Falcon on October 23, 2016, 09:59:46 PM: Pulled out a tooth from my moose last fall and sent it to the game dept for aging.
Came back at 4 years old. Guess I shot a baby :chuckle:

I guessed mine to be 3 to 5 and am thinking it will be 4 like Falcons bull. Interesting to see the bull and age pics. I hope more former moose tag guys find this thread and post a pic and age. will post mine when I get my results. :tup:

The bull was 55" wide.

Post by: Bango skank on October 24, 2016, 08:47:22 PM: Word of caution as far as wdfw tooth aging. A neighbor if mine killed a real nice mature black bear boar. Easy 350lb animal if not larger, im being conservative. Wdfw said 2 years old. No effing way, not a chance.

55 wide 32 palms 11 wide 9 point per side 7 inch girth

55+32+32+11+11+9+9+7+7= 173 give or take

I see the best racks in about the 8 to 9 year olds, then the palmation starts disappearing and they get some gnarly long points.

Pretty cool. She had travelled quite some distance from where she had been collared, probably 20 miles or so.
