IMPORTANT NOTICE
New for 2009: Hunting Pamphlets Available Earlier (mid-April) & Special Permit Applications Due Sooner (May 20)
Starting in 2009, the Department will publish the hunting pamphlets in-house. This will allow for the pamphlet to be available nearly one month earlier. Since the pamphlets will be available sooner special permit applications can be submitted beginning April 20 and will be due by midnight on May 20. Drawing results will be available before the end of June instead of July

From what I understand the last couple of years they used an outside group to do the drawings and since they screwed it up two years in a row they have since chosen to keep it in house like they used to do. So I doubt we will see any of those problems this year.

AMEN BOBCAT! I usually get all my choices in the system within the first week or two and then wait for everyone to miss the deadline and have them extend out my wait even further to catch the three or four people who had their heads somewhere else.... It's just wasting valuable scouting time.

If you looked on their website where it says either "selected" or "not selected" mine said "selected". I didn't know what area it was for but all I put in for is branch permits. I think many people where willing to forgive that mistake but the fact that they did that two years in a row pissed alot of people off. Your right nothing was sent in the mail but if you checked online many people were excited to see that they had been drawn.

I have not heard anything about them doing it in house. I don't think they have the ability or that it is even legal for them to perform thier own "lottery".
They have had an issue with the drawings (spring/fall/etc) each of the last 4 years. The same vendor has been doing the drawings for many years, though they did change their name a couple years ago.

There may be a few that don't get them in on time, but this is at least the third thread on this topic in the last month. Maybe we should start deleting them. :chuckle: :IBCOOL:

Also main reason why this year's pamphlet and what not is coming out a month earlier is due to the fact that we are printing the pamphlet in house, and not sending it to a vendor. We are also able to use the work on the game management package to streamline the pamphlet process. Belive it or not but the surveys we've done have shown people wanted the dates to stay roughly the same.

Good post inside. If most people want the draw dates to remain the same then they suck. Earlier the better. For me it's like having Christmas postponed for a month. I get more excited for the the special permit drawings to come out then I do for Christmas. Any one else feel that way?
Not me, because at least at Christmas I get presents. ;)
