Ok so my aunt has about 120 acres just north of Spokane and am planning on hunting the late rifle season over there to try to catch a buck in the rut. I shot my first whitetail doe over there last archery season. I am curious to know when the whitetails tent to start and start to die off from the rut? Any advise would be awesome thanks to all!

They were already starting to chase does last week when we were in the SE part of the state. Its pretty hard to go wrong from the middle of November until thanksgiving this year looks to be a little early for the whitetails.

Sounds like a dream and a smart plan, I have found the bucks tend to be most active the last few days of the season but it can all be good.

:yeah: last few days of rifle and the first week or so of archery seems to be "peak" of the rut :twocents:

Thanks for the replys guys! Well it looks like I will wait a little... Think rattling would work? Or just stay on the does, I know when all the does hangout since ive been hunting over there for about 6 years for turkeys, not much for deer had a chance at a decent 4x4 3 years ago but just couldn't make it happen...

This is a shed that we found over there 3 years ago turkey hunting, hopefully he is still around!!

Scrapes already showing and hit or miss with bucks with does, seems to be right on track. Lots of rain and nutritious new growth for feed. The dead bucks I have seen were fat and happy. Should be a good one.

Last year I notice a change that took place around November 7th and seem to be kicking in full gear around or up until the 14th of November when I tagged out. Came back a week later in hope of getting my dad on a deer but looked as if they were already locked down 17-19th. I've read it may be later but based on this years trends and the rutt starting earlier for mulies and blackmail. I'm only assuming it may start sooner for whitetail ma.

Every other species is rutting a bit early this year, it stands to reason the whitetails will pop early as well.

Mulie bucks are checking out the does in the yard. First buck that I have seen show any kind of rut behavior was on Sunday. Lots of whitetail bucks and does around but no rut activity yet that I have noticed.
