So much for getting out deer hunting this weekend. I might be able to chase the dogs around and shoot a couple planted birds at Scatter Creek, but drawing my bow is not going to happen.
I don't know, maybe I will go out with my crossbow or muzzle loader (it doesn't have that much recoil). Shooting a slug gun is a non starter though, but then again once you have pulled the trigger the stealthy part of the hunt is generally over and screaming in pain isn't going to do much to screw up the hunt at that point.
The big problem is dragging the meat out.

Sorry to hear, and and I thought my broken heel was bad. At least I can around somewhat. >:(

What happened? Did you slip on a puddle of water in the bed of the truck? Just giving you the business, sorry you got hurt.

I was headed up to visit Grandma at St Joes Saturday and sneezed and felt a Charlie horse on my side, then felt another sneeze coming on and there was little I could do. As soon as I sneezed I knew I had either separated a rib or cracked one.
Then went to bed Monday and about three in the morning went to roll over and was fighting a pillow and a three year old in the process and heard it snap. Managed half a day at work yesterday while in denial, but about noon I accepted reality and went in to see the doc.
I have theses involuntary violent sneezing fits every once in a while and usually can brace myself and they are not a big deal.
I suspect a few will get a kick out of my suffering this week after I was "being mean" last week, I guess what goes around does come around.

Slap a maxi pad on it and get out there.
Just kidding. Broken ribs suck. Sorry to hear.

Wish you a fast recovery. Take it easy, broken ribs suck!

I'm really sorry to hear you're hurting. I sincerely hope you have a quick recovery and are able to get back in the field soon! :)

No more base jumping for a while. Take care of yourself.

Broken ribs are very painful, been down that road a few times. Just remember to keep breathing deep, even though it hurts. My last time with broken ribs I ended up with lung fluid problems because of shallow breathing. I like your attitude of shoot the muzzle loader and then just scream, sounds like you'll be fine, but sorry it happened.

No good man, I hope you heal quickly.

I busted a rib the day before opener of modern deer season sneezing!!! Talk about hurt like hell, I cant sneeze, fart and or cough without crying like a girl. But I still hunted every day and Im going elk hunting for 9 days on friday. Not much you can do for a broke rib.

That sucks JD. I have thrown my back out from sneezing, its amazing how powerful the muscle contractions are from a sneeze. Hang in there.

Would shooting with your other shoulder work better? What about hunting pistols?
Heal fast!
