I think I figured this out on my own. Looking for some verification from ya'll. I have an email into WDFW for clarification. In the upland regs it says you can not hunt with a dog for wild animals (other than rabbits) during modern firearm big game season. I assumed this meant stay out of the woods if bird hunting.
Today I came across a thread from a few months back in this forum I noticed someone note the difference is in the big game regulations is defines wild animals as mammals which differs from wild birds directly under in the definition. From getting into the definitions it appears I can hunt with my pup anytime the pheasant season is open. Doesn't matter if big game is open or not?????
Just wanting to stay out of trouble and enjoy some walks with my pup and a chance for a bird.

Yes you can hunt. If they didn't want you to hunt, they'd close the pheasant season during those times.

Go Pheasant hunting. You are good to go as long as Pheasant season is open.
You just can't hunt big game with a dog.

Awesome - thank you! I was feeling like it was getting a bit too complicated. Watch out pheasants here I come.............. or at least my shotgun and my pup get a good walk in.
