Title: Backyard bear #2
Post by: bankwalker on November 13, 2016, 12:48:38 PM
For the last couple months my neighbor has had a big Bear destroying her apple trees so she insisted I hunted her 85 acres and remove the problem bear. After hunting this bear off and on for the last week's with no luck. Finally  a couple evenings ago he slipped up and showed himself with a few minutes a shooting light left. As I walked between my garage and house I looked up and seen him under a big Apple tree. I snuck to within 20 yards of him.
Made good shot with a 162gr sst and he took off into some dense reprod. After a few minutes I didn't hear any sort of death moan and it sounded like he had covered alot of ground. So i decided to let him sit over night before heading into a possible dangerous situation.
In the morning I walked back and started tracking him only to find out here's went about 100ft from where I shot him.
Took a few pictures trying to show this bears true size and no picture does it justice.
It took 3 of us to barely get this bear into a Nissan Frontier. Glad I didn't have a full size truck haha.

No he sat over night for almost 13 hours from time of shot to the time I got him home. I was more concerned about loosing meat. Ended up not losing any meat and now wish I wold have done a better job skinning.

Nice bear and good idea leaving him be overnight.  Not worth busting brush at night with a wounded bear.
