Title: Entiat deer reports
Post by: bowpredator on November 17, 2016, 02:07:47 PM
Hey all, just putting this feeler out to get any reports from the rifle tagholders or anyone else that have been in the unit. For the archery tag holders chomping at the bit for opening day next week.  Are the bucks chasing, deer #'s, road conditions. I'm sure any info would be greatly appreciated.

Deer are starting to show up but a lot are still up high.  No snow yet.

I spent last Saturday out there. I saw well over 50 deer. The bucks were ruttin hard and I saw almost every big buck down low on mud creek.

I filled my tag on the 2nd day of our planned 11 day trip. Lots of deer moving, all the bucks were chasing does, a few of them pretty aggressively. Saw 30-50 deer per day (we stayed until this Sunday, I had paid for a week at the cabin on Mud Creek anyway.) I was happy that I brought what I typically wear during archery elk here on the coast because it was pretty warm! I think the snow level was at 7000' when we were there so the roads were clear and bare, some fog in the AM on those last days. The deer were REALLY moving in the evenings. Shot the first shooter I saw, but only because I knew I'd be happy with it. "Shot" a few big 3's and one pretty good 4 point with the phoneskope while driving in the Subaru out Mud Creek. I'm probably rambling, but I hope something useful came out. Good luck!!!

I think I talk with you little killer when we crossed paths last Friday as you were driving down from slide ridge in your Subaru. I was in the red f150.

I've been up there there last three weekends. Seen plenty deer but nothing huge. Headed up tomorrow for one final weekend before the big opener!  Staying off Mud Creek.

I'll give you a road and snow level report tomorrow night if someone doesn't give something sooner. Good luck!

I don't think we talked to anyone, and we stuck to Mud Creek and Preston. However I did see another Sub, a green outback? Ours Is a '16 Forrester, would've been with my husband.

Haha!  Was another Subaru up there. Sorry!  Glad you were successful.

I'm going up Saturday to check it out. First time I'll be hunting the late archery season and I'm hoping what I keep hearing about crazy number of hunters isn't true but if so I'll just have to hike farther.  Now that I'm local I'm really looking forward to getting to know the Swakane. Should be interesting.
We were up Swakane Canyone on Tuesday and only a few does seen up there. Got to see a nice group of Bighorns though.

I'm talking the Swakane Late Archery.  It's a general late season from Nov. 21-30th.
