When did turkey shopping get tougher than turkey hunting ? G. M. O. , non. G. M. O. , frozen not frozen but just thawed , frozen , organic , field raised , juiced up , based , not based , young , old , free range , timers , and oh ya ! That ground stuff that's as we know is just beeks , butts , n brains preshredded , resweated together and pressed into decorative party packs ? Jeeeeeze ! Anyways I left confused and not willing to mess things up so ill let the wife pick out which one she thinks is the cutest 😦

Soooooo """ we get the hermetically sealed dead bird home and the question is raised , fester or not fester , so I yoogled turkey brine and got a concoction of apple cider , oranges ,brown sugar , kosher salt , pepper , garlic , rosemary and sage and water put the poor thing in there for 24 hours as instructed by some earthly woman called a pilgrim or something ? Well I took it out and it looks like something that fell off the farmers true k going over the Monroe street bridge a month ago and was found by detectives floating in front of the black Angus restaurant , but I followed instructions so its going in the smoker until it turns into something I recognize ! Anyways happy deadbird day to everyone , be thankful I know I am !!

cryder, I thoroughly enjoyed this post! I had the same feeling a couple years ago, turkey shopping is overwhelming. I ended up raising a turkey this year for the first time, and she's about ready to go in the oven. ;)

Always wanted to raise my own turkey but im sure it would clam my place of rest in no time at all with my wife's cat and it would be let go into the wild about 2 weeks before thanksgiving and I will be told it flew away or something

Yeah, my husband petitioned for her stay of execution 3 times... Then she got too big to fit in the fryer. Lol.
