Title: GPS road mapping?
Post by: kingpin on November 25, 2016, 07:16:16 PM
Curious if anybody has seen any GPS units that will basically draw out roads that you drive. Specifically looking at being able to map out the Hancock areas. Or do the newer units have these roads mapped? It has been years since I have looked at a new unit and was just out driving the roads the other day following the paper map provided with the permit. I got to thinking how ridiculous this is and wondered if there was a better way. I know some of the newer fish finder GPS combos have the ability to map the bottom of the river/lake so I thought this would be a reasonable idea. Any input would be appreciated!

You mean something that maps like this?  OnX maps Camp 1 area screenshot.  Download maps to your phone or even like I have on my Ipad and it will work where there is no cell signal, or get the chip for your gps unit.

I often drive a new area with my rhino on so I can see the roads in relation to each other.

The On X looks ok, but there are still a lot of roads that can be seen and not showing up. It would just be any to be able to complete the mapping and upload for other uses as well as myself. Just an idea had had kicking around. Thanks for the replies. Looks like the OnX is probably the closest option. That does look pretty good.

Thanks guys!
