-
who's judging?
why don't we make it an official huntwa thing...
-
Jackelope, That would be perfect, but September 1st is too long, and this is not a good time for antlered game. It should be a contest that ends April 15th, and then maybe another for spring bears etc.
Bob
-
Maybe it should end April 16th. I can set my cam to watch the neighbors mailboxes and get them crying as they send in their taxes. I just need to find an interesting place to put my cameras. And a way to coax something to them. Sounds like fun
-

No cameras even do that anymore. I'm not understanding the point of this and what types of photos are you looking for and such? I'm really confused.
-
all my camera have date and time stamped on each picture also it should run atleast until horned animal`s hardin their horns..Ijust put a starting date up there but if we all start talking about this i think we can get it going

pope...you're in the trailcam forum, not the photog forum.

i agree...kind of wierd timing.
maybe on a month by month basis.

You mean like this :chuckle: You can put a date and time stamp on any picture you want, whats the point of this? :dunno:
-
Oh crap, I think I'm in the wrong forum. I have a hard enough time taking pictures when I'm there let alone strapping my camera to a tree and hoping something walks by. :chuckle:
-
Did this thread get moved? I coulda swore when I read it last night it was in the regular photography forum, and I was really confused.... :chuckle:
-
Phool isn't that Montana buck the same one you been posting on here since the website started? I think you just change your clothes!! :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I think what he's talking about is the time/date/temp/moon phase/etc you see a lot at the bottom of trail cam pics.
:dunno:
-
You can add the time and date stamp to any picture, but I don't see the point in doing this.
Bob
-
Well since we're not getting a new Dodge Ram truck and $50,000 we could just use the honor system, hey all here is a trail camera photo I got last night type of thing?? :dunno:
-
I'm in, I don't know how to put date stamps on the photos, or keep the date and time correct on some of my cameras.
-
I will not be entering the contest because I have almost six years experience setting trailcams. This contest will teach how to make sets to get the best possible pictures. This is not a hang a camera on a tree and see what happens thing. Quality pictures do not happen by accident. It takes planning thought and plain hard work. You have to pay attention to camera settings backdrop and scenery selection. These pictures should not he a biggest buck thing. The quality of the picture should be the top consideration. but having a big buck n the picture does not hurt. Here is the type of picture that I would like to see. Many of you have the cameras that can do this, it is just a matter of the setup and getting it done.
These pictures should be judged using the same methods and judges that judge the pics in the photo of the month contest in the photography forum.

Bob,
Is that a crop out of a pic or is that a full photo? I would like to see the full photo if possible.
Greg

Greg, That was a W200 picture and it was cropped. Here is the original and another cropped version.

SWEET!!!
Bob I'm going to get 2 cameras out this coming weekend.
So what is covering up the deer with grass? that the cougar still?
-
Thanks Bob. I was wondering just how far your camera is away. I think with a bit of postprocessing you could have some ultrasharp photos. These cameras do wonders for sure.
-
OK this is my 2nd opinion for the contest..lets keep it simple go 12 weeks
1ST lets all vote thru out hunting washington.com to pick the animal us hunter`s would like to see a photo of such as a (BLUE JAY) run the voting for 2-3 days to allow people to vote
2nd once we figure out what animal to photo
we set a 7-10 day run time to get the photo of the (blue jay)
3rd each person whom successfully got a (blue jay) photo would post for the week 1 contest
4th after we run the auction we would find 3 people to judge the photo`s of the (blue jay)
Now any idea`s on how each week to rotate judges please speak up..
The winner would get what ever a hunting washington hunter put up for that weekly contest..
SO tell me what you all think if we need to add some things let post it and talk about it...lets get started
-
12 weeks is way too long, and the moderators here need to select the winner
-
I have made a suggestion to Washbrooke that he have a panel of judges to review a monthly contest to chose the best photo submitted. I have also suggested that seeing as how you have set the Standard of what these should be you be a judge. Looking at some other individuals that submit photos perhaps Huntphool and a anyone of the other quality photo submiters'. The time length perhaps should run monthly and not be species specific. The panel pick that months choice and after a run length of perhaps Sept. Before we all start to get busy let the Forum decide of the monthly winners that you as judges have chosen. As you have generously offered up a trail camera as a prize, and what ever else the forum comes up with then could be used as 2nd,3rd and so on.
-
First of all, One of the moderators has to agree to help oversee this. Until that happens, there is no point discussing anything.
Bob
-
I don't see the help in time stamping the photos, as the best composed ones are cropped anyhow. Maybee show the original and cropped versions?
If we can't get our own photo contest, maybee we could get a month of the photography sections contest assigned for Trail Cam photos.
Just my :twocents:
-
How would you know the pics are from a trail cam? They would have to have a Co. stamp on them like Cuddeback or Moultrie?
-
Hey guys,
If it'll help I'll volunteer to help with the judging. I know a little about photography and I don't own a trailcam so won't be wanting to enter the contest.
-
I have brought this contest up twice now, and no one wants to take charge and get it going. It needs to be run by someone other than the general members. I am going to be very busy in the next few weeks, so I have decided to withdraw my support and offer of a camera for a contest here.

reading this thread gave me a headache.
