Alaska's doubling prices on hunting license fees and tags at the first of the year. So if you know you're buying them get them before January first.
-
I just heard this as well $1,000 for a Brown Bear tag starting January 1 and $300 per tag for Deer!

This is a real crapper, Alaska trips hurt the pocket book as it is.
-
you sure i can buy 2017 tags at the reduced price before then??????
-
prices don't go up until first of the year
-
Guess not many applying or hunting up North
-
If you can afford the guide fees for a griz hunt ($40k is what I usually hear as a ballpark) the extra $500 for the tag is in the noise for the cost of the trip.
Though, for us folks of normal means, it makes that dream hunt for moose or caribou that much harder to pull off.

Isn't really much of a hassle, its not that bad.
But, ya I agree, Canada tags are going to be way cheaper now.
-
Well that sux

Well that sux
:yeah:
It is an OK deal now, but after next year not so much. Nearly $500 to shoot one 70 pound Deer is kinda steep especially when a guy has to figure in airfare. I have done SE a few times and splitting food, boat fuel, plus add airfare and paperwork to be legal for two Deer it could be done for about $1500, or little less, round trip. Now it will be over $2,000 for the same trip.

I've never hunted up there, but have wanted to. I've stayed away because of stories I've heard about being hassled bringing guns in. Really want to go up there for a black bear hunt.

Don't you have to hire a guide in BC?
-
Thanks. We are going to order ours here soon.....

:yeah:
Yes I believe so
-
you do have to hire a guide to hunt Canada.
-
Guess I won't be going there, then
-
The other thing I spaced is putting in this year for bear is actually for next fall and spring of 2018. And our boat is going up for this year. But licenses are purchased and we're putting in for bear. So if I'm lucky it's Alaska bound two years in a row! We're going to be up in June and august of next year. Fishing only in June now and deer and fishing in August. Can't wait!

Anyone ever used Joe Schuster's services in Alaska?
