Title: Good archery shop south sound?
Post by: BigTines on December 06, 2016, 12:41:28 PM: Looking for a good archery shop near puyallup. Recently went into great archery northwest and was NOT impressed with the owner Doug. Let's just say customer service isn't his strong suit. Completely unhelpful and a rude guy. Needless to say he lost a future lifelong customer.

Anyone know of any other archery shops that can get me setup with a new bow? Thanks!

Post by: WapitiTalk1 on December 06, 2016, 01:01:56 PM: Although I've used a few small business archery shops in the past, I normally just order my bow, sight, rest, quiver, etc. on line and set it up myself. If you need a string change or something that requires tools you may not have, then you can choose one of the many shops around including BP and Cabelas. It also saves $'s to buy an arrow jig and fletch your own arrows. Just my .02.

I have had good luck staff wise with Sportsmans Warehouse in Puyallup, Archery Managers name is Ron I believe. Being a "box store" they do not have all the pro shop brands, and there is not always someone in archery every hour the store is open.

For a true "pro shop" locally Rock Creek up in Enumclaw is top notch.

Post by: Wetwoodshunter on December 06, 2016, 04:37:15 PM: I use Peninsula Premiere Pro shop its in Belfair. He had probably 30-40 bows in the shop when I was there before elk season as well as a gun shop. Super nice guy, and does great work.

He also has a target outside that as he tuned my bow before last season I would walk out and shoot at different distances.

I have always heard it's best to develop a relationship with a pro shop but was just appalled at the service I got. Not to mention cost--was told entry level bow was $850. Seems pretty high to me for a beginner. Again I'm a newby so I don't know anything.

It's possible I might be moving to maple valley soon so pro shops over that way could work well too. Thanks!

Post by: Band on December 06, 2016, 10:03:41 PM: Some big name brands have similar offshoot brands at much lower prices, sort of like Lexus vs. Toyota. This is the way I've gone with both of my bows, a Reflex (Hoyt Jr.) and a Diamond (BowTech Jr.). I've been very happy with both bows. Something to consider.

I drive from Tacoma to XXX archery in Rainier Oregon. Cory is great at tuning bows and knows a ton about arrows.

Rod at sportmans in Puyallup is an awesome dude but they don't really carry pro shop brands..

Great NW has been the same way since I first stepped into the shop on River Road.. Sad and Pathetic
