Title: Ruger American Predator?
Post by: WapitiTalk1 on December 20, 2016, 10:11:00 AM
Curious to hear about anybody's experience with these boomsticks.  The price is certainly reasonable (I can actually get one for around 450 bones w/no tax on an Army installation) and they have a good handful of available calibers.  Possibly looking at a 6.5 C or a 243.  Have any of you cats shot a Predator version of the Ruger American (or perhaps own one), and, how do you like how they shoot, trigger, cycle rounds, etc.  Thanks in advance for the discussion!  RJ

This forum is full of good reviews and positive news for the Ruger American rifles.  Sounds like a solid choice, great bang for the buck so to speak.

I wouldn't hesitate to park one in my gun locker

I was thinking of getting this same rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor within the next week. It certainly sounds like a great rifle.

Regularly  $449? I've never seen for more than  $389 and most $359. Must have went up in price in the last year.

It is Cabela's they are about the last place to go and get a deal on something unless it is a door buster.  For firearms they pretty much charge full msrp most of the time.

Give Brad's Guns in Bonney Lake a call, let him quote you on one.

Agreed. But I have a $100 cabelas gift card plus about $60 in cabelas points. So that would take the edge off.

I am shooting 140 Gr Hornady ELD-X Match and getting <.5 MOA accuracy. recoil is minute and the rifle handles nicely. Honestly It is the most accurate rifle I have ever owned.

Hi,

Went to the Ruger website..... noticed that the 308Win has an 18" tube where all other calibers are 22"...

Why would that be?

Diminishing returns.

The 308/762 performs pretty good at that barrel length and with a suppressor it will still give you a fairly compact package.

here is a pic of a coyote shot in the neck at 304yds with the 140Gr ELD X. He turned around and a shoulder shot turned into a neck shot. Sometimes once you begin to apply pressure to the trigger it is physically impossible to not continue until the shot breaks. I don't know why that is. Maybe its a bad fundamental. Still dumped like a sack of....
