Title: Sig Kilo 2000
Post by: Duckslayer89 on January 05, 2017, 09:05:37 PM
Alright I'm really close to just ordering the Kilo from cabelas on sale. Has anyone had there's out in the rain and used it hard? I'm all about reliability and buying things that last. How has yours performed if you own one? Originally I wanted a leupold because of the lifetime warranty. However I found out that they only have a 2 year warranty on internal electronics and the SIG has a 5 year on the internals and lifetime on optics.

First one wouldn't range much past 500.  Returned and the 2nd is AWESOME!  Even in fog/rain, better than a Leica 1200 and Vortex1000.  Reliability, ask me this time next year....

That's not what I want to hear! Lol. Sending the first one back already? Idk seems like every rangefinder has a couple of duds

The bad news is that I've read of a few others that reported similar experiences. The good news is that Sig replaced the with units that performed very well. I've had no issues with mine.

I love mine. Works flawlessly! Best rangefinder I've ever used. Like said rain fog bright sunny days. Threw my windshield at a stop sign 1800 yards, no problems

My first one wouldn't range past 500 yards either. I complained so, Peter Peifer, one of the main guys who works in the Sig Electro part, sent me a new one and said they had a few that wouldn't range correctly.. the new one he sent me works great. It's fast too.

I doubt you'll have a problem but if you're concerned buy one now at Cabelas. They're on sale for $350. Take it outside and test it on something 1000+ yards away. If it doesn't read correctly, return it.

FWIW: I bought one of the first Leica rangefinders when they came out. I had to return it to Leica because the laser was misaligned.

I got one last year and used it with absolutely no problems what so ever!

I have one but have had trouble getting any sort of reading beyond 800 yards or so...  Should I be able to range a stop sign at 1k with it?  I assume it would have to be on a really stable rest to range at that distance?

trying to figure out if I need to send mine back or not...

That doesn't sound like normal behavior and I would return it if you can't read anything past 800 yards. I've had readings over 3K with mine.

Bought mine from SWFA a few months back when on sale for $350.   Was backordered, but arrived finally.  I tested it during snowstorm in Nov, ranged 1050yrds no problem even handheld and shaking.  That was off a road sign.  Every Co has bad items, key will be how they take care of you for replacement.  If you cannot range 800 with one, I would be sending it back for sure.

I bought one in October and couldn't get it to easily read anything past 800. I returned it to Sportsmans and now I'm easily ranging things at 1500+.

Over 1760 yards on a stop sign offhand?

I played around with one the other day at work. Hit 839 yards a few times. I was impressed with how instant it was. I'm going to get one i think, unless there is a better option in the same price range.

With sig number 2, I'm able to get ranges out to 1370 on Douglas fir treetops, something I wouldn't consider reflective.  Buildings out to 1900 so far.  Haven't tried a stop sign but 1700 yds would not shock me now.

I have two Leupolds. I won't have a third. They are junk. Their range finders are not the same quality as their scopes.

yes 1860

I don't even know how you'd be able to hold steady enough at that range to hit the stop sign.

The Sig Kilo take multiple readings per second with the button depressed, so it's possible to hit small targets offhand. The challenge in those instances is knowing which of the readings is from the intended target.

It's everything. Everything just goes bad at once. Optic gets blurry, display is fuzzy. Range capability goes from amazing to mediocre to crap.

I think this thing might have been rushed to market

The Sigs are fast, that is why some are able to ping things long distance offhand.  Mine hit a stopsign @ 1038yrds offhand even in low light and with it snowing and me shaking due to cold hands.  It did take me a couple tries due to shaking, but it worked.  I see no reason someone could not hit one 1860 in better conditions or a building @2600+.  There are videos on youtube with guys hitting 3k+ with the sig on a bipod, so the unit (when working properly) has great reach.

Just hoping I do not have luck like Jonathan has had...

I can only guess they had a bad batch (or batches). Mine has been flawless through a pretty hard season of use, as have those of two friends of mine.

Hopefully they will get to the bottom of the issues.

Just picked one of these up. Sig Kilo2000 is $330 on sale at sportsmans warehouse in south hill. Add a $10 coupon from the sportsmans show and it was $320+tax. Pretty good deal I think. Can't wait to try it out.

WOW, prices have really dropped on them for sure.  and I am wondering if they are closing them out/have a new unit on the way?  Usually Camofire gets surplus product, but they have the Kilo2000 per an email I just got.  Not seeing it listed for sale, might be coming up later.
