Just found out 4wd lock or 4wd low does not lock transfer case mechanically. It just locks the clutch quicker when exceeding 2mph. When you put it in park with ebrake on only the rear wheels hold you. On an icy slope the rig will slide backwards like a 2wd. I have to get a board to jam brake pedal on if stopping on an icy hill. Cripes !!!
Applies to 2014 and newer Ram 1500's.

Id thought 1500 ram had electronic lockers in the rear?

Maybe a powerwagon? But I have rear posi and that doesnt hold vehicle on icy slope.

Maybe it's just me but not many rigs will hold on icy slopes 4 wheel drive or not unless they got chains on. 4 wheel drive only helps you when you are driving not parking

I second this. 4WD does nothing when parked. Maybe he is talking about taking off from being parked. But even then just a little tire spin should engage the 4WD. But even then driving and stopping on ice mainly comes down to driving technique and tires.
