Title: Bucket list birds. Are they in good enough to get mounted.
Post by: St.Clair5x5 on January 24, 2017, 12:22:09 PM
Not sure if these are worth mounting or to wait till I get better looking birds. Seeings how I don't shoot these all the time :dunno:

Really nice looking ducks. From the picture they look to be nice mature birds with very little damage. I would take them to a bird taxidermist.

Late season, full plumage w/little damage. Gonna be hard to find better. Your call on mounting as money usually decides that.

Mountable specimen for sure, hard to beat with that quality plumage, get them to the taxi and write that check with a smile on your face!

Worst case is you take them in and get their opinion. They will see stuff that you are not even looking for. If you are dead set, then go, if waiting for primo quality bird, they might say yay or nay, get back at it. Great looking birds. What does the under side of the red head look like?

Don't want to be the naysayer here but that Barrows is a young drake and in all honesty unless you never see them I'd hold off for a much more mature bull. Now the red head in, my opinion, is a mountable bird. But all redheads in my opinion are mountable.
