Have a new varmint build in the works, any guesses what it is per the pic? That's a 17 Hornet next to it for comparison.
-
Cheetah? MK I?
-
What ever it is the barrel probably won't last long, and it's very fast.

That's probably a very safe assumption. Depending on how it gets treated, 600-ish rounds, but, it should be a VERY fun 600-ish rounds. lol
Not a Cheetah MK I or MK II

.224 tth?
-
22-08
-
20WSM

20WSM
don't forget the 'AI'

20WSM
don't forget the 'AI'
17 WSAUM AI?
-
Is it based off of the blaser mag line?
-
Not a TTH aka 22-6mm but I do have one of those. Not anything off of a SAUM, WSM, or any of the Blaser cases. Is a standard bolt face but is not a 22-08, although that was the nearest guess so far.
Not sure if this will help much but from left to right 17 Hornet, ?, 7mm Blaser Magnum

22-284

22-6.56 wag

22-284
Not a 22-284 but I did consider one of those once. ;)
-
20-08?
-
22-6.56 wag
LOL I never even heard of that one. I'll have to look that one up, but no that's not it either.
In preliminary testing this cartridge is shooting 55gr Bergers out of a 26in. barrel 4100fps and hadn't pressured out yet. Shot 40gr Vmax over 4500fps and surprisingly the bullets didn't vaporize in flight. :yike:

20-08?
Ohhhhhh, that is reallllllllly close, but still not quite it.

17-08?

Lol, I only shoot over the counter stuff, have never reloaded yet, and really don't know much about caliber development. Your building a wildcat right, So pretty much can build anything off another case as long as it isn't bigger then parent case?
-
17-08?
You had the right caliber the first time, just wrong parent case and shoulder angle.
-
20-300sav? Or 20-243
-
20-300sav? Or 20-243
LOL No, but you're soooooo close.

20-250
-
20-6.5 creedmoor
-
20-260? 20-260AI
-
Not 20-250 or 20-6.5 Creed
-
20-.257 roberts
-
20-57 Mauser?

20-260AI
Winner winner chicken dinner!!!
The boys at Defensive Edge Rifles have been developing a 20 caliber version of their "Terminator" line and came up with what they are calling the 204 Terminator which is a 260 Rem necked down to .20 cal with the same shoulder angle as their other Terminators.
It's a given the barrel life probably won't be much over 600 rounds but shooting those 20 cal 55gr Bergers 4100fps and maybe more, should be a lot of fun and I can only imagine what it'll do to a coyote or groundhog. :yike:
-
Imagine what it could do with some 62 gr sierra's
-
I kind of want to get my neck sizing die for my .22-250 out and run a 6.5 creedmoor case through it now
-
Imagine what it could do with some 62 gr sierra's
I guess I'm not familiar with that bullet, is it a .20 cal??

no, my pea brain reverted back to .224 already

22 jaybird? Or maybe it is a 20 jaybird

some varmint is going to have a real awakening when becoming pink mist

I'm thinking measurably more, as long as a sturdy jacketed bullet is used👍
Can't wait for results!

They've built a test/shop rifle and in preliminary testing they were launching the 55gr Bergers at almost 4100fps and hadn't pressured out yet. They played with some 40gr Vmax and were sending them downrange at over 4500 with no pressure signs. The Vmax doesn't have a particularly robust jacket so I was a little surprised they even made the trip to the target.
Using a 1-8tw Krieger barrel on this build and it's not something they regularly make so it could be a few months waiting for the barrel but I think they're going to order 4-5 barrels to help speed the order up and keep a couple in stock for future builds.
I can't wait to see what it does to a coyote but I realllllllllly can't wait to shoot a Rock Chuck with this thing. I'm guessing it'll be rather messy. :yike:

Can you get it to 4700FPS? :dunno:
