Title: stealth cam problems
Post by: big wood on February 04, 2017, 07:01:28 AM
Any one have problems with their stealth cam GN42. mine doesn't take pictures sometimes. It says "no file" on card reader. I have put new batteries, re formatted the disc and put new SD cards in it. Not really happy with them. Just took one out with a 60 day soak and "no File". pretty bummed

Sounds like you may have a card that's not acceptable for the camera. This used to happen to me years ago, that's the reason I always pre-check my cameras before I set them. This is especially important if you're hiking in miles to set them. It's a pain in the rear, but at least you know it works when you load them in your pack.

I have reformatted the sd cards(in the field), actually after everytime I check the camera before I put it back, I reformat the sd card. This has helped about 25% of the time "no file" is on the card when I return. I feel stealth cameras are junk

Wood,

Have you tried any other memory cards? If not, try a different one.

How old is the camera? And where did you purchase it?
I'm pretty unfamiliar with Stealth Cams, but if it's not that old, and if you were lucky enough to purchase it at Cabelas, then return it. Cabelas return policy and cameras is excellent.

I have three of them i had a few problems early on when i switched cards between cameras.  Now i have all my cams numbered and 2 cards per camera numbered and only use corresponding cards to cam and no issues.  I have really liked mine for the price.

I'm having the exact same problem with a wild game innovations cam, I'm just going to send it back and hope they replace it. Don't know what else to do

I have had that a couple of time with my Stealth Cams. Very upsetting after leaving it 2 1/2 miles in for a month and no pictures

I do the same thing numbering and using the same cards with the same camera but it only works 50% of the time. I have a couple bushnells that dont have a problem at all but they are twice as much

Only format them before you go out and test. Each reformat erases previous loads. If you reformat before checking to see if anything is on it, the information (pictures) stored will be deleted. Test before heading into the field and then leave it alone. If you bought used there could be something wrong with the software/circuitry. If all else fails I'd ask the seller you bought from on ebay and their suggestions. If no luck by then, request the seller to return your money and send back the cameras. If the seller won't accept it, give them bad feedback/stars with a description written with it.
