I'm thinking about getting a new barrel for my weatherby. Can any one point me in the right direction. I live in Gig Harbor, hoping to not have to travel more than an hour to get it done.
Thanks,
Justin

IO would have Travis at Rbros put a Broughton barrel on it. His shop is in Elma. Great guy and top Quality work.

:yeah:
If I lived on the wet side of the mountains Travis is exactly who I'd take it to. Lots of excellent top shelf barrels out there, Broughton, Hart, Kreiger just to name a few. I've never personally used one but I have heard good things about Benchmark barrels as well.
Something to keep in mind about having guns re-barreled, you may find hobbyist gunsmiths that'll do a decent job and probably even for less money but it's been my experience, you pretty much get what you pay for and in the long run, those lesser expensive re-barrel jobs can end up costing you more than if you'd have had a top tier gunsmith do the job for you. Just something to consider before you proceed.

Thanks For the advice guys. I will check out the above mentioned gunsmiths!

Steve Kostanich down in the Centralia area has a 300Wby reamer with a separate throating reamer. I would be careful to make sure what I was signing up for. If you are happy w/the long freebore then it doesn't make much difference/if you don't want that long freebore then it does make a difference. He does fantastic work.

I also have a 300 weatherby that needs a new barrel. One gunsmith recommended that I call the weatherby custom shop and see what they can do. TWhat I found out is Weatherby does not manufacture barrels for some models any more but the actions are still the same. They offered to upgrade my Mark V stainless to an accumark for a little under $1000, that gets a new barrel and new accumark stock. You can also change calibers as long as the same bolt face is used. For example they said I could go with 6.5/300, 300, or 340 Weatherby.

I called Travis at Rbros and he doesn't work on Weatherby's only Remingtons I believe. He also mentioned that I should reach out to Weatherby. I have a Mark V Stainless as well bearpaw. The upgrade from Weatherby seems like a fair price... I might have to look into that.
Thanks for the info JDHasty & Bearpaw

I know it's up north but what about contacting the guys at Benchmark barrel I believe they do rebarrel jobs and from what I've heard, they make a good quality barrel too.

I once had a NICE 270wby Mark V with a great piece of wood with a custom barrel smithed by Palazzo in Covington. He's getting up there in age, but last I heard he was still working.
