Anyone know the weight of just the canopy? No poles, no pegs? Isn't listed on the Kifaru site and a Google search yields nothing, even on the forums.
I'm grabbing one after trading away my Cimarron for a little bit more wiggle room.
I can weigh my set up tonight. I did weigh it once and if I remember correctly I was a touch over 6lbs with the stove, shelter, pole and stakes.

You are welcome. Patrick has been a long-time friend and I've slept in everything from the Para Tarp on up to the 24-man Tipi. Hunted in Wyoming with him and a crew of other Kifaru guys in Wyoming this past Fall. The one shelter I haven't used yet is the Tut, but I might try one instead of my Mega-Tarp this year. Anyway, you can get by in high arid environments like Colorado or central Wyoming pretty easily without a liner, but for the humid "Pacific NorthWet"...liners are mandatory if you want a dry, warm place to call home in the backcountry.

I have the tut so i cant answer that. You've got to have the stakes and pole to put up the shelter anyways so its a null point really.
You don't need the aluminum poles. Two trekking poles linked together would work just fine for 0 weight. Throw your partners on the back end, done. I use different stakes than the ones that Kifaru sends out, so I can just add those to the canopy weight for its real world weight ;)

What's the approximate time frame to put up one of these? And how does it compare to a standard 2 person dome tent? I have an ozark 2 man dome but, if it's going to be more comfortable/similar time set up and tear down I'd be willing to change it up.I'd be willing to wager that setup time will be same or faster. No comparison on space, not even close. Ability to run a stove and probably less weight depending on poles and stove.

My seek outside XL stove and 9 foot pipe weighs 4.5 lb. and fits in small laptop sized bag.

They fold up small and are made for backpacking, check out the light outdoors stove's. They are lighter cheaper and in my opinion all around better design. My stove and 8' pipe is like 2.6lb's for the 18" stove. With tent and stove I'm right around 7lb's, split that between two people and that's not much for backpack hunting with wood heat.

Ive got the smith stove and the titanium sheets roll up, its pretty slick. The first time setting them up is a learning experience but after that its pretty easy. Super easy to pack and well worth the couple pounds.

Hopefully that's next Kifaru purchase even though don't really need one. What's gonna be your next Kifaru purchase drock?probably a backpack next. One more year with the eberlestock j34 then onto a kifaru bag.

Which do you prefer the cimarron or sawtooth and why? I was going back and forth on these two tents...they are different animals IMO. the cimarron will take a stove, but isn't centered around the idea like a sawtooth. the weights are not really comparable and this is why. the sawtooth is tall enough to walk into, and have a couple people gather around the stove while still having sleep gear laid out. the cimarron is solid, UL 2 man option.

I've had mine out a couple on nights now and it is solid really happy with my choice. Leaving on the 31st for a 17 day elk hunt in Idaho.
Looking forward to hearing about your hunt. Until I pulled a bull tag this June, I had intended to hunt Idaho in search of bulls. I've enjoyed hunting cows and spikes from trees but after chasing bulls one year w a tag holder I've thought of nothing else since.
