Jasmine is pregnant! Pups are due second week of March, and will be ready for their new homes the first of May. Check the Sponsor Classifieds for more info. ;)

Not this time around. I still have some work to do with Jasmine, so I'm not really ready for another pup yet. Andy gets back about the time the pups go to their new homes, and I will start working Jasmine hard toward her APLA Master title this fall. I may try some HRC tests, but I'm not sure yet.

I've got the whelping box set up. The mrs. will put the bedding in later this evening.

Jasmine still needs regular exercise, but nothing strenuous. As a result when I went to Scatter Creek today to give 15 week old Remi some bird exposure Jasmine was allowed to join us on the Walk, but she had to wait in my rig while we played bird. She didn't care for that very much. To make matters worse I knew the work with Remi wouldn't take long, so I got a hold of a couple of my training buddies, and we did marks, blinds, and a little bird work with their dogs. Again, Jasmine had to wait in my rig. She didn't care for that very much either. She tried to make up for it a little on the ride home. She did eventually break, but I was able to recall her easily. :chuckle: :chuckle:
Jasmine pointing quail at 60 MPH.

Just looked at your ad. Nice job on the health clearances!!! Don't see that very often!!!

Thanks Colin! There's plenty of people breeding bad labradors. I am not one of them. If Jasmine hadn't shown some talent along with all the health clearances I would not have bred her.

The east harbor page had a bunch of other peoples dogs and pictures which I thought was confusing. One stud is owned by a guy named Paul Cantrell so I know it isn't owned by east harbor.
-
Yeah, I know. :dunno: He lists "Taz", and he's owned by Choral Greer. Jack is right at the top of the page. The others are just studs he has used.
-
That's odd. I noticed that as well. I guess if you aren't into dogs then you assume east harbor owns all these studs?? It's a weird website which I would discount as not honest as a person who knows the dogs they have on the site appearing as if they own these established dogs.
-
Hold on! What's not honest about East Harbor's website? Even a novice should be able to figure it out. He clearly states who owns the dogs, and where they are located in the paragraph next to the picture.
-
If you don't read the "fine print" it presents them as their own stud dogs is all I'm saying. I've never seen that done before. I think its sort of strange. Usually folks put up pictures and accomplishments of their own dogs not other peoples dogs. The acknowledgement comes simply with the pedigree.
-
I don't understand where you're coming from. There is no "fine print". I agree I wouldn't promote someone else's dogs on my site either, but there's nothing clandestine about East Harbor Gun Dogs, or their web page.
-
When I click on a breeders website that says, "our studs" I just expect to see dogs which that breeder bred or owns. On East Harbors site, 4 of the 5 pictures on the Our Studs page are not owned by East Harbor. The last line of 4 out of 5 dogs says who owns them in small print.
I'm not saying its wrong, I just think it comes across as making it look like they own these dogs. I personally have red flags pop up when I see things like this on webpages. If I saw that breeding or kennel name come up, as an experienced breeder and owner that is now the first thing I think of when I see their kennel name. That they kind of advertise other peoples dogs like they are their own.
-
This is the page Happy is referring to:
http://www.eastharborgundogs.com/id62.html
Where's the "small print"? :dunno: Maybe I'm too trusting, but in bold font right at the top it says "Our studs and other studs we use" Admittedly the home page button says OUR BOYS, but I don't think it is deliberately misleading.
Chill out, Paul. John at East Harbor is a good guy. :party1: :brew: :chuckle:

Top of the page says very clearly "Our Studs and Studs we have used".....pretty black and white.
And if you could point out which dog is owned by Paul Cantrell that would be great because I am confident none of the dogs listed are owned by or have ever been owned by Paul Cantrell. The dogs that are listed are in fact owned by the kennels/people that are listed in the explanation.

The second click says our and whatever. I thought Black Ice Retrievers was Paul. Edit... I read the little note saying the dog lives on the east coast. Anyways, like I said.... Just "what I think" didn't say anyone was a bad guy or say anything bad about anyone.
Whatever... No big deal.
Usually I just get pinged for making pointing lab jokes which I didn't even do this time 😊

Yes it is.
Years ago, I used to list studs I had used and who their owners were on my stud dog page. I don't any more (its too much work to list them and my own stud dogs), but I don't see anything wrong with it.
And there are at least 3 Black Ice Retrievers that I know of. There are probably more.

Makes since. Obviously the stud gets listed on the pedigree😊
