Looking to chase some speed goats in Wyoming this year with my dad. Looking at units 109 or 15 because of the ease of draw with no points. Public land is going to be an issue, but looking for adventure. Has anyone hunted here before? Recommendations for campsites, food, ect. (near Sheridan) Anything helps guys, thanks

I try an hunt a leftover tag every year while building points in Wyoming for goats. 109 is in my opinion the worst unit out of them all. I would rather hunt any other leftover unit but that one. I have not hunted in 15 but have hunted 22, 17, and 16. If you end up settling on one of those units shoot me a pm and I’ll try and help.

I will check out those units for the future, looking at 109 because it is scheduled to open mid September... I do a fly in hunt for 10 days to the backcountry in Idaho in October every year. Not looking for a trophy by any means, just want to put my hands on a good representation with my dad. Think I am going to stick with 109 this year, but with the leftover tag option, I might make driving out to WY to chase antelope a yearly thing and work my way around until I get enough points for a quality unit.
Do you stay in Sheridan when you go out there? Camp or motel?

When I hunted 109 I just stayed in Sheridan at one of the hotels. I only had a couple days to hunt. There is a couple walk in areas and soldier creek management area. Onx gps chip was really helpful. You might want to check out unit 26.. You would have to apply but you have a really good chance of drawing (80% or better) and would defiantly be a better hunt imo, and it opens in September, or at least it did last year. Either way, good luck.

Call the Sheridan regional office and speak with Tim Thomas the district wildlife bio.

I hunted 109, 10, and 15 two years ago. Of the three I preferred 10 and 15 over 109.
