Cool, thanks for letting us know!

I apologize for my ignorance, but what does "points available" mean.

There is a link on the special permits page that will show how many "points" you have for each category of special permits.
-
Got it, thank you.

How did this happen? I'm not over 65.
Elk 65 And Over 2 12/18/2016

Conflict Reduction Goat?

Elk 65 And Over 2 12/18/2016
When they split all the categories a few years ago, if you had 2 pts in the elk category, you ended up with 2 pts in all the new elk categories.

That's correct.

iii. An applicant's accumulated point totals, immediately prior to sales of the 2010 permit applications, will be replicated across all categories for that species. The point replication will only occur in 2010, during the transition from single species categories to multiple categories of the same species. Applicants for any new category added in the future will begin with the point awarded at the time of the initial application purchase.

I've got points in the youth categories I hope to use someday.
When I'm reincarnated.
Also disabled category if I ever become disabled. :IBCOOL:
-
Gosh I've got 7 points for being over 65 and 7 points for Disabled and I'm neither

Well if you're lucky you'll be 65 someday.

Looks like not all categories are up to date.

All of mine are. :dunno:

Man, the fallout from the permit system change and magic points replication in all categories in 2010 keeps coming. I know of at least one guy with 11 over 65 points - and he's in his 50's. That means a guy turning 65 today would be 76 before he catches up to that whippersnapper.
Such a poorly thought out implementation of a poorly thought out plan.
Rant over.

Four points for second deer and four points for spring bear, maybe it will be my year... No WDFW has me blacklisted :bash: :bash: :bash:

I agree, it was totally unfair. One reason I'm choosing to spend more of my money in other states.

[/quote]I'm in the same boat, with 12 points waiting for me when I reach 65, become disabled, or turn 15 again.

Thanks Bob.

I checked & found. Antlerless (Elk 65=2 pts, Deer 65=14 pts, Regular Deer Doe=21 pts, Moose 65=14 pts) & I'll be 65 in July. I need to check out these old guy hunts. :)

Unless the guy turning 65 today also had 11 points (or more) when the system changed in 2010.
I have 10 over 65 points and I'm 31, but I can't accumulate any more in that category for 34 more years.

Completely agree. I drew a elk permit in 2008 so I had 1 point dispersed in all the stupid category's. I would have gladly ghost pointed or returned my 2008 permit to benefit more on the point scattering.

The whole point distribution discussion brings back memories of my anger toward Dave Ware and the commission for approving the thing. >:(

My mistake,
I was thinking this years points should be recorded, but they haven't been submitted yet.

Yup, I drew deer in 2009, so ZERO points across the board. Still irks me.

:yeah:
I drew a crappy antlerless deer permit in 2009 so zero points in all deer categories for me. I would have taken the points only option if I knew.

My spring black bear shows 1 point but I put in last year so i should have 2 points maybe they didn't add the point for this years app? :dunno: Anybody else have this problem?

If you look at the Last Updated date it shows back in December (at least mine does). So the points are reflecting from before Spring Bear Apps were bought/submitted.

The point totals displayed are based on the end of the prior season. You will have two points in this year's drawing which means four names in the hat.

I am sorry, why us this so important? Don't you know how many points you have? I do

There are how many different categories, about 47? How can you possibly remember the number of points you have in all those categories?
-
Mine still shows nothing all the way back to 2010.
-

It’s important enough for me to want to know the totals when applying, but not important enough for me to memorize all 20+ of them. :twocents:

Yes sir. It's easy for me max in everything except quality elk. And buck when you never draw it's really easy

I know how many moose points I have, that's the only one I never forget (20.)
I think that one will be going back to zero in a couple months. 8)

What a damn mess, it shows me with 1 bear point but I know it's 2 or 3, and now I have points in almost every category. 65 and older, disabled and even master hunter points? I'm non of those!

That has nothing to do with the new system. The points in the other categories have been there since 2010.

Prior to 2010 there were not multiple categories for species such as deer and elk. You had a certain number of points for deer, and a certain number of points for elk (and moose, goat, sheep). In 2010 the system was changed to allow hunters to submit permit applications in multiple categories. For deer there were categories added for Quality Deer, Buck Deer, Antlerless Deer, Deer for Hunters with Disabilities, Youth Deer, Master Hunter Deer, Second Deer, 65 and Older Deer, and maybe a few others. If you had ten points for deer going into the 2010 season, they gave you ten points in all the deer categories even if you weren't eligible.

ok, so the points from now on won't increase, only when I start buying those permit apps?

That's right. You will have all the points you have now until you either (a) apply in one the categories and get drawn which resets your points in that category to 0, or (b) you apply in a category and don't get drawn which will increase your point total for that category by one.
