Anyone have experience with either or hopefully both of these methods for cleaning brass? Looking at moving away from dry media and don't know which one is a better option. I already have a huge rock tumbler that I can use the stainless media with so kind of leaning toward that....but not apposed to the ultrasonic if it is superior.
Pros and Cons for both would be helpful.
Thanks
Johnny

I have used both and ss pins are the way to go. If you have a big tumbler all ready that will be cheap to get into and it cleans so well.

Well, I bought the stainless media and all the goodies to go along with it. With my walnut media I would polish then deprime and resize. I am thinking now I need to deprime and resize then tumble, any reccomendations?

I use ss media and pop the spent primer out before I tumble. Then after it's done I size it.

Use both. The ultrasonic cleaner will clean the inside of the cases. No tumbler will do that.

The stainless tumbler will.

Stainless media in a tumbler will clean the inside very well
-
I didn't realize the stainless media cleans the inside of the cases. Dang, something else I need to invest in now? :bash:
Might have an ultrasonic cleaner up for sale soon!
-
I don't know that it does it any better than the ultrasonic since I haven't used ultrasonic. but it cleans Everything from on and in the brass.

I am going to tumble my first brass today in the stainless. I will take before and after.....most of brass is pretty clean already but it will show how well it cleans the primer pocket and inside of the case if I can get pics. Kind of excited to see how this stuff works.

you will not be disappointed. It's absolutely amazing how well it cleans. They are literally like new.

:chuckle: blr sent me a whole bunch of brass to anneal last year so I cleaned it all up and then annealed it. When I gave it back to him he literally thought I lost all his brass and bought him brand new brass.

Agreed on the stainless pins. It cleans the inside of the brass as well as the primer pockets in most cases. I usually put them on and let them run while I'm at work.

truth! Bullblaster's case prep procedure is second to none! I copied him step for step. Except the annealing machine :chuckle:

I use a squirt (precise measurement :chuckle:) of dawn dish soap and a shake (another precise measurement) of lemishine.
-
I couldn't find lemishine so just go with an exact timed squirt of dish soap. After cleaning I sift out media and rinse brass with warm water in the sink. Toss em in the dehydrator on high for a while and have perfectly new looking brass.

Check Walmart. I believe I have seen it there in the past!

Bought my lemi shine at Safeway in the dishsoap isle.

BI- Mart has it.

I couldn't find it anywhere here in town. Oh well, at this point I've ran well over 2K pieces through it without using it. I honestly don't see a point in adding it honestly.

It figures you couldn't find it. All you see at the grocery store is Diet Pepsi and sour patch kids. They do have other isles you know! :chuckle:
You just have to be the rebel and not use lemishine like the masses too!

When I first started fiddling with better ways to clean, I used wet corn cob :chuckle:
Probably spent an hour with a compressor getting it out of the cases
-
First batch just came out, was washed and is now drying. Looks AMAZING!!!!! Pretty easy process and unbelievable how clean the brass comes. The water was filthy and this was brass that I had already tumbled in a dry media. :yike:
The question begs....is it necessary? Probably not.....but does it look amazing? YES!! Will I go back to dry media? NO!!
This is the youtube site that helped the most. Also shows my recipe of dawn and lemi shine.

There's are some things you just don't post about online the Jon

It's raining they don't need watered! :chuckle:

Before and after.....this is about 4 hours worth of tumbling and they look great. Most primer pockets look new....a couple have small burn marks visible. Inside and outside of case is like new.

Nothing better than loading up a bunch of squeaky clean cases with a proven load!

Jealous. Now I am going to have to order some pins.

Can you just use a regular Tumblr for this?

Probably not now that I think about it since you guys are adding liquid to it, chuckle.

No, it has to be a rotory style tumbler. An agitator tumbler will not work, the steel pins will sink to the bottom and not work to clean the brass. (If I understood your question)
-
You did, thanks.
