Title: Alaska moose 2018
Post by: High Climber on March 13, 2017, 07:37:13 PM
Ok guys looking for some guidance for planning my moose hunt for 2018. I've used the search function and read all the threads, same at outdoors directory, rokslide etc.  my buddy and I are wanting to hunt moose badly in sept 2018, we are thinking 8-14 hunting days, we are both in good shape and are experienced and successful elk/deer/bear hunters that are not afraid of a physically demanding hunt. I've spoke to many of the popular/ most recommended air services ( 40 mile, tok air, papa bear, renfros). we are thinking a ridge/ lake drop camp but aren't against floating if we could make a solid plan by 2018 (Bartlett is booked out until 2020 not sure if strahan is as well) We are looking to each have an opportunity at a nice bull 50"+. We could book with tok for 2018 but don't want our drive to hunt soon lead us into a regrettable decision.  FWIW zack at tok air seems like a straight shooter and was great to talk with. Anybody else I should be contacting? Anything I should think about? Open forum or PM's

personally I'd be looking at some of the outfitters... will cost more, but they take care of the logistics, and they know where the Moose are, greatly improving your chances of taking one..

Thanks for the replies and PM's so far... i forgot to mention, we are looking for diy only, and would like to stay south of $8000  for the trip in its entirety including meat to home, tags etc.  Would love to hear about dos and donts, lessons learned, experiences good or bad.

Bartlett is a good dude and source of info, stay away from Strahan.....that was a waste of money. I've done both float trips and drop camps. I don't have any guide recommendations, but if you have any logistic questions shoot me a PM.
