Either will work great on anything you point it at. The 6.5 is gonna offer a lot more options factory ammo wise. Once he decides on caliber, then have him find that option in a cooper :chuckle:
Lol well he just pulled the trigger on the 6.5 just got the text he's stoked. I was looking at those cooper backcountrys yesterday. They have a jewel trigger, I've read a lot of forums saying that jewels have problems out in the field if they get a little dirty or grimy? Everyone says go timney if it's a hunting rifle jewel if it's a bench gun. Do you have any experience with that?

I've got timney in most all my guns. Not sure how grimy you would have to get it to not function but Coaches Cooper 52 was a hot mess at the end of the season with no function issues. Not much of a case study I guess. Good friend who sells guns for a living says he hands down has more complaints and issues with kimber than any other brand he carries. Too many lemon stories for me to ever pick one up. Hope his is a shooter. Hard to beat a 6.5 for accuracy.Either will work great on anything you point it at. I've heard they had problems when they first came out in 2005/2006 but have gotten much better since. I haven't had any issues with mine besides the finish which I admit was piss poor for the price of the gun I was disappointed. Everything else though is great accuracy and overall handling. My timney on my Ruger is crazy I love it just had it put on and adjusted a few weeks back.

I run jewels in most of my long range rifles. I have one with a timney. I have never had a single problem. My custom I am running this years has been from state to state and from snow and ice to hot desert sand. Never a hiccup and brakes clean every time.
