Accident claims Sherman pack breeding female
The collared breeding female wolf from the Sherman pack was killed last week; hit by a car on State Highway 20, Sherman Pass.
Steve Pozzanghera, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Eastern Region director, confirmed the accidental death Monday.
Pozzanghera, who was in town to brief county commissioners
on possible changes to a wolf-livestock interaction protocol document, said he did not immediately know if the wolf was pregnant, but that it was the right time of year for her to be.

Very nice!
-
Sorry to see that how many times did you have to run back and forth over her to kill her?
-
That is one expensive photo!
If you consider what the WDFW spent to try to eliminate her and now some one hit it with a car.

Probably don't know about the cysts!

Great, now WDFW will probably say that Sherman doesn't have a pack because the hierarchy is in flux. :bash:

Looks like some tree huggers got her! :chuckle:

Doesn't look like it was run over enough times. I would of ran it over more than once!

Exactly. Lots of people excited to see this wolf dead, but in reality its going to be bad for us. Breeding pairs are the currency for wolf recovery and management.

The poor car, hope it didn't suffer much damage. What a heroic sacrifice for a good cause.
-
We all know it was accidental, We are so sad . :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

I would like to see a picture of the vehicle that hit her. If there is any damage to it the state should be responsible for the repairs.

One down, more to go!!

It's cute you still think wolves will ever recover and be managed in WA.

Have to close Sherman pass, to dangerous with it open for the wolves.

Makes you question if they found skid marks at the scene or if they were marks from a burnout?

I look at it as a 2 way street. Good, we've got one less wolf. Bad as we just took one step away from delisting.

They'll never delist and allow hunting. That's a fairy tale.

There are more than enough breeding pairs in that region. It's the other regions that "need" them.

My take on it is fact though. You can't dispute that.

IF WDF&Wolves would have been truly interested in managing wolves they wouldn't have come out with the worst wolf plan of all time, and even with the 15 bps they could have delisted several years ago. So delisting is a joke on the people of WA who will and are paying the price of a corrupt WDFW and their lawyer fill fake environmental partners.
Spending money on study after study that has already been done by others, and coming up with a solution that fits their agenda. When the wolves etc. have depleted the game herds the blame will be placed on lack of corridors and habitat. And the games will start all over again. :twocents:

Some of you guys that are expressing so much passion towards this cause should consider attending one of the meetings I posted about earlier this week. Almost no comments in this thread.

You can bet the wolf lovers will be there in force.

Kind of surprised that no one has said it was a coyote… :stirthepot:

Sooooo can you claim it as road kill?

I am truly heart broken at the loss of such a majestic animal :ACRY: :ACRY:. I am not sure I will be able to go on with life....it will take some time for me to heal and get over such a tragedy.
OK, I'm over it!! Who wants to celebrate!!! :brew: :brew:

Since the Profanity pack had been ear marked to be removed and had cost all of us close to 120K. I'm not sure it is that much of a loss. WDFW suspended the aerial hunting the Wednesday before the opening of general deer season in the unit. There are possibly 4 sub adult's last year who are now perhaps roaming in the area. Time will tell if they are all gone.

Too bad they didn't also hit they gray one that is always close by this one. Poor thing is probably lonely now. They had been running together for quite a while up there.
-
The pack won't skip a beat. The other females got bred and the pack won't even miss grandma. They are just animals, their mourning is short lived.
Love the hilarious comments and cartoon.

Yup. Not even allowed to possess one in the state
