Title: just being niebourly ?
Post by: cryder on April 02, 2017, 07:02:45 AM
Up north by my cabin ive got a niebor named Glen , hes in his golden years , suffers from pancriatic cancer and pretty much bed ridden or so the medical minds say , his well pump lid is in seriouse need of repair and his daughter asked if i could help without letting Glen know , hes a little to proud to ask for the help.  I showed up a week later with all the nessasary fixens and proceeded to put my decrepit self to work . Two hours into it just about finished and i see Glen with a cane and hes limping across the field to me , at this point im thinking hes pissed off enough to limp all the way out to me . As he gets closer i relize its not a cane hes limping on its a winchester dirty thirty !!!  Glen looks at me and says what the hell are you doing, all controlled defences were alerted nut he sees the finished project smiles and says how old are you and does my eyes still work ? I sid sure if its close and will hold still long enough to focus , Glen was crackn up !  He tells me how his three sons dont know how to appreciate the outdoors and things and will never understand the history and value of his cane . He hands it to me and tells the story of thjs 1958 winchester and how many deer he has dropped with it , he then tells me his eyes wont focus anymore and he wants me to have it !  As most of you know , speechless is not a trate of mine but there it was dead silence , i just stared at thus piece of history and could not speek , then there goes my stupid intellect , i said well Glenn how would you get back to the house , again he smiled and handed it back to him , well folks getting back to the house Glenn had gooten back in bed , i went in to say goodby he thanked me and dozed off , i said by to his daughter and walked passed that piece of history leaned up by the door , just like the rifleman does , there was no way i was takeing that rifle becouse Glenn still needs it as i plainly could see , maybe one day ill need a cane and i wiil return and ask for it , wow what a nice cane !

First time I have ever read one of your posts without laughing at the rant that you were going on about. Glad to hear you helped out a neighbor and gained some good karma points.
