Title: Marine, Astronaut, Senator John Glenn Laid to Rest at Arlington Today
Post by: pianoman9701 on April 06, 2017, 07:01:36 AM
He was my hero when I was a young boy. I wrote to him during the banking scandal during the 90s, of which he was unwittingly involved and cleared of all wrongdoing. He sent me a hand-written letter back. He was a great American patriot and the kind of man America needs more of. RIP, Colonel Glenn. Our nation has suffered a great loss in your passing.

The folding of the flag always gets me.

And me. The presentation of the flag to the widow and children was done by the Commandant of the Marine Corps, Gen. Neller. He stayed quite a while kneeling and talking with her. It was a privilege to be part of that moment and quite touching. Taps got to me the most. I've played Taps for many funerals, hundreds.
