Lathrop and sons came out with their own boot. The mointain hunter and mountain hunter elite. Talked with Stephen Lathrop about them and I'm looking forward to trying them out. Sounds like they've been working on this for quite a while.
Anyone order them?

I'm waiting on a pair to show up, I'll try and remember to check back in with a review. The customer service is second to none

I've been thinking about the Cevedale tech lite hunter. Anyone have any experience with these? Love my Lowa Tibet Hi though

I would like to try these out but have quite the collection of boots as it is. Looking forward to the reviews

Which one did you order the mountain hunter or elite?
-
I have some hesitations about ordering as they kept pounding their new custom fit kit to try to get extra money out of me.

I went with the all leather mt hunters

I bought a pair of the Cevedale tech lite hunters as that is what Lathrops was pressuring me to buy. I can honestly say they have been a huge disappointment. Not only do they leak but they hurt my feet, and I went with Lathrops custom inserts. The Civedales are just like any other mountaineering boot, heavy and clunky and definitely not the style of boot I like. I believe Lathrops was just trying to unload a huge stock of boots that they had purchased from Lowa.

:yike: I bought three pairs of their custom foot beds. Huge disappointment. My feet ached like a mother after hiking the alpine lakes with a pack. Put my Dr. Schols work insoles in and they are much better for 1/3 the price

I don't know that the custom fit kit is for everyone but i know it's helped people with abnormal feet.

I trimmed the synergy insoles to fit the bottom of the boot perfectly

I threw a pair of the synergy footbeds in my kenetreks and have really liked em. You have to find what works for you, unfortunately that sometimes means trial and error on some expensive gear :twocents:

I don't think the synergy footbeds are designed for an exact fit in the bottom of the boot. They trimmed the ones for my boot and they are wider than the bottom of the boot in places. Kinda wraps your foot.

I left the wings on just trimmed the front down to size so it didnt curl in the front

I've been running the synergy footbeds for a few years. Very happy with them. I had the custom boot system on a pair of zamberlans last year that were excellent and my elites should be here soon!! Stephen and James are some good people!

Gotcha. I've been pretty happy with mine. Their knowledge on boots and boot fit is second to none. I do always end up buying more than I intended. I guess they got to make their money somehow.

Got my mountain hunter elites. They're a solid boot. Biggest things i noticed is the rocker cam and how they they lock your heel in really well. Rocker cam allows you to roll forward quite a ways on the ball of your foot with little effort. we'll see how they are after i put some miles on them. Awesome lacing system as well.
-
Unfortunately I will be sending mine back, not a good fit at all for me. Didn't want to try and break in something that we're that uncomfortable right off the bat.
-
Anymore reviews on these boots. I considered them and talked to them but just couldn't switch from my proven Kenetreks to an unproven new boot so curious how they are turning out after some miles put on them..
-
I'm still breaking mine in. They feel stiff in your hands but on your feet they don't feel like a stiff boot. They really wrap around the back of your foot well and lock your foot in good from the arch back if that makes any sense. One of the most promising boots I've worn so far.

In general I always recommend going to Fleet Feet and having them fit inserts. It's what they do. Seriously.
