Title: First Damascus Blade
Post by: rainshadow1 on April 14, 2017, 08:26:12 AM
This is the polished Damascus blade...

First forged damascus. Nicholson file and 1080 disc blade. 18 layers. No nickle so it didn't etch very distinct, so I polished it.

Does anyone want to buy this? I can build a custom for you with it, your design input. Or you can build it yourself.

This is my first hand forged Damascus blade blank. Made from a Nicholson file and disc blade steel. 18 layers. No nickel content so I polished it out. The layers are very subtle. A few minor voids but no de-lams at all.

Otherwise I have other plans for it... Limited time offer! I have 3 jobs going, then after those I'm going to make a Puukko out of it and keep it in the family!

I'd sell the blank for $75. The price of the build would depend on the build... not going to use Musk Ox for $150, but I'd use basic hardwood for that. Musk Ox would run towards $700. So it totally depends.

So.....how much for a finished knife with a little girly thrown into the handle and sheath?

Probably around $200. I've got some purple and some red... would have to order some tulip to get pinkish... I've got some floral leather tooling stuff... I designed the blade for a puukko, but I could do any style of hidden tang.

I run the Dibs program on my stuff! Gotta actually pull the trigger to get dibs, can't just tell me you have a trigger! Could be a high-end, fancy, jewled, gunsmith tuned, race trigger... but if you don't pull it then you don't have dibs!

It'll be a little while. Need to finish a howler/knife set, a mountain goat pair, and another outsourced Damascus billet knife, then I have a HUGE list, but I am having fun so I'll make another soon after that. Will get with you then...
