Ive been leaning VERY heavily towards the EXO K2 3500 pack.
But.... I can get the icon 5200 for about $300 less.
The cost isn't a deal breaker by any means. But if I can get quality gear on the cheap, why not.
To be honest, I wasn't even looking at the Icon..until today.
I have some KUIU rain gear that is awesome, so its not a matter of the "brand"
Id like some honest opinions from those of you who have experience with both or either. Good or bad.
Thanks!

I have a 2015 exo 5500, it's a nice pack. i have a few buddies with the icon PRO and they like it also. Both quality packs. I'm 6'3 with a long torso and the load lifters are borderline high enough.

An Icon for $300 less is a no brainer to me. At full price both are great packs and you wouldn't go wrong either way, but $300 cheaper makes the Icon to good to pass up.

The only difference I found in the two packs besides the price was the frame quality. I read and researched a lot before I bought mine and I read a few things about the actual durability of the icon carbon fiber frame. Now I'm not totally sure what that frame went through to crack like it did but I do know that I want quality with me at all times and that is why I went with the Exo 3500. I know a lot of people that run the Icon and they all like them a lot but ever since I bought the Exo and have shown them they are thinking twice about their decision. Like others have said I don't think you can go wrong on either choice you make, both great packs. Just make sure you let us know what pack you choose.

Wait are we talking the original icon or a new icon pro? Those 2 pack frames are different beasts and the icon pro is tough as nails. I had an original icon before my pro and didn't have a problem with 80# loads. But I know some did have issues.

Thanks for replies so far!
Its the Pro model.

Stone glacier or kifaru? :chuckle:

If made in the USA is important to you and the extra cost isn't a deal breaker, Exo and the other two above might be better options

My buddy went Icon Pro, and afternoon one year he had sold it, and ordered EXO. But once, cry once. Love Kuiu's clothes, but not the packs. :twocents:

I went with the icon pro 7200 and really like it so far. I also picked up a "used once" 1850 bag for 80.00 off Rokslide. Love the pack combo. The 1850 for me is a great day pack and easily switches out from the bigger pack. I got my icon pro 7200 on one of there one day only 30% off sales and got it for a steal. Like I said, couldn't be happier with my set up so far.

There has been many good write-ups in the past on these two packs. Your going to see good things about both but I wouldn't wait to long to decide as you need to break them in a bit.

Wise advice. My Pack adjustments made a big difference, and it took a few holes to get it nailed where I like it.

I went with the exo 5500. Pay once cry once. I would highly recommend exo, if you're going to order one don't wait another minute. Most of there product is on backorder for 2-4 weeks.
