I can't say enough good things about the JetBoil Mighty Mo. For those of you getting things together for this falls hunting season. The Mighty Mo is a heavy weight in a small, compact 3.4oz package. The auto start/ingnite is great. It has a huge regulator range. 4 1/2 full turns of range on the regulator, I can fry eggs like a breeze along with steaks and ham
And simmer at the lowest setting. Not to mention cooking back strap and tenderloin right at the field dressing site in the back country. The 10" JetBoil frying pan, along with utensils are super light. The frying pan has a heat ring on the bttom that is super functional for concentrating heat and blocking wind. I carry both in my pack, the Mighty Mo along with the JetBoil canister cooking system has me covered A through Z!

Couldn't agree more.......Jetboils are pretty amazing units. I love mine. :yeah:
-
And the French Press accessory for the canister unit is Bad Azz for some rocket fuel coffee on those early crisp mornings!

Looks pretty slick! Have never had any issues with my Zip. May have to look st one of the MO's.
-
Love my jetboil as well, I need to get one of those frying pans though.
-
Make sure you get the pot or pan holder if you have a regular jetboil. It's cheap and needed to hold the pan flat.
-
I've been reading everyone's comments about jetboil and mountain house for a while. Bought both to take with me turkey hunting a few weeks back. I was pretty impressed with both.
-
My jetboil only runs at full bore, or off lol. Gonna look into replacing it with a newer model, thanks for the review!

This! We didn't realize one was needed until we were 7 miles into the backcountry last year. We stacked rocks around the jetboil to hold the frying pan in place, but ended up melting the plastic ring around the burner.
-
I just held my pot. But it melted the burner too. Makes me worrie it'll melt even with the piece now. Might have to try the mighty mo out...
-
Love my jetboil.

Probably a stupid question but, do you guys have a good way of knowing how much gas is left in your canisters? I'm guessing it's just experience on how heavy it is? I'm too the point where I'm bringing 3 canisters that I feel are low.
-
The most accurate way is to weigh the cannister. Obviously this requires a scale and some math and isn't to feasible in the backcountry. But is good to know and can give you a well educated guess as to what to expect from an individual cannister based on your use.
Many of the cannisters have some sort of marking system on them, that will give a estimate of fuel left. Usually its a simple float test. This isnt real accurate, but I use it when I am confident that the fuel will exceed my use requirements.
Another thing to consider if packing extra canisters is refilling them, g works makes a product that will top off your cannisters so you can always have a full one and leave those extra half empty deadweight at the truck.

I will look into the float trick, thanks. G works, I'll have to check it out. Thanks

This device seems like a good idea for emptying 3 low bottles into one. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00U2EE6M2/

I mark my canister with run times. 20 minutes = IIII. The french press was the one accessory i added to my original jetboil.

Just put the canister on the fridge for a few minutes. Pull it out and wait for it to sweat to the fill line.

How do you guys feel the jetboil stacks up against the MSR Reactor? Is one better that the other. I have only used a Reactor and liked it alot.
-
There probably similar. I think the jet boil just put a good backpacking stove / cup together and made it more available to the hunter crowd. Most hikers have always used the stoves. But the hunter hasn't really until recent. So it's just your basic hiking stove.
-
Just had the JetBoil pot delivered today. Insulated, the bottom cover is a plate and the lid can double for a second plate. Ordered in some of the larger 450g all season fuel canisters. I carry the small canisters in my pack and of course the small one that fits internally in the JetBoil canister cooking system. I keep the larger canisters at camp and in my truck.

I don't consider the jetboil a hiking stove. The Jetboil a camping stove and road hunting/road camping stove yes but not hiking. I have and use the jetboil for such.
Hiking stove imo is the msr pocket rocket with the small fuel canister, folding spork, foil; all nicely packed and secured in the titanium cup.
-
So the msr burns a little hotter and is smaller? :dunno:
-
Msr is way smaller and way lighter. Not as efficient on fuel however you can get a solid week out of the smaller can so efficient enough. The Jetboil is a little more convenient which is why I have one for the truck and truck camp's. More convenient mostly due to how it is not as suseptible to wind. Like on a tailgate with the msr I found myself building wind blocks with contents in the bed of the truck where with the jetboil does not have that issue. So in the back country or anywhere out of my pack I started carrying a little foil with the msr.
