www.canyonhuntingranch.com there is a link to there site. 1100 dollars to hunt a feral pig :yike: really doesn't sound like a good deal. just go to the auction yard and buy a pig and let it run around the field for a while it would be the same thing.
-
Agreed! Certainly a steep price to hunt a damned feral pig.
I do have a question that maybe someone here can answer: Is this ranch a high fenced operation? The reason I ask is that I wasn't aware of any high fence operations in the state. But, with all the exotics that they list on thier web page I would think that they would have to have something keeping them all confined to the 8,000 acre ranch.
Just curious...not pointing fingers or trying to stir the "high fence" pot.

It's all good Bofire. I was just curious since they seem to have all sorts of exotics running around the ranch.
-
I do believe the only way they can have "exotics" for hunting is to be a "high fence" operation. They have to keep all non-native animals confined.
I may be wrong, but that is the idea i got from talking to them a few years ago.
-
They will also do the meat for you as well think they told me .43 a pound hanging weight. Was thinking of doing a pig there for fun 700 pounder sounds like fun.
-
I would pay :twocents: to hunt one of their Wild Hogs. They are all turned out domesticated pigs. They probably cut some of them so they will grow larger and develope larger tusks. That is a reiculous price. Might as well go down the road to the nearest farm and but one for butcher.
-
I have been to that ranch. Took a buddy there for his bachelor party. We shot a hog and tried hunting sheep. I wouldn't call the pigs wild but they are huge. We hunted in march and they were in the area of the feeders. Summer might be different. The one we got one over 650 lbs. I have heard rumors the ranch got split up due to family issues. They buy the pigs in minnesota or wisconsin for around $35 each.

My kids and I always love seeing that old stuffed volkswagen in their booth each year. I'd sure like to have the skull from an 800 lb porker.
Pretty pricy for a put-n-take operation. Several places in Kaliforny that run about half those prices. :dunno:

I knew a guy who went their once, he said it would be the last time he went. He got a pig, but echoed many of the sentiments already posted here.
