Title: 2017 Spring Bear Kelly Hill Hunt.
Post by: bear hunter on May 29, 2017, 04:44:16 PM: We were rained on hard for days. Didn't see much sign. I ran into a nice big cinn. bear. but as I cambered my rifle it jammed. :dunno: The big boar just sat there as I freaked out. Lol The week was slow as week scouted new areas. But the last day I found the mother load. I spot a nice black boar and took the shot at 168 yards. :yike: I missed :yike:. Hmmmmmm I looked ever place and nothing. Well I missed he just looked around after I shot and before I could get a 2nd shot he ran off. Then I spotted another bear 1/2 mile away and took a 365 yard shot and missed. :yike: :dunno: I just don't know. Well my buddy and I headed to camp for lunch and after I ate. I jumped on the ATV to go sight in my rifle in a clear cut. As I pulled up I spotted a Cinn. Bear in the clear cut. I moved in and she was 70 yards away. I took the shot and she bolted. As I cleared the bank she was standing and rocking. I took aim again and dumped her. Bear down ........ :IBCOOL: I drove to camp and took care of my bear. I told my buddy it might be a good idea to go back to the hot spot I missed the 2 bears at. So he headed that way as I took off to get ice. I recieved a call 1 1/2 hours later and he said bear down. Right on his first bear. He also said he missed a nice Cinn. Boar as big as his ATV. and shot the other one in the clearing I missed my 2nd bear. So proud of my friend for getting it done. We filled both bear tags on the last day of are week long spring bear hunt.

I was drawn for that tag 3 years ago I think. On that trip I seen 8 bears in 2 days. This trip we seen 11 but it wasn't until the weather got nice.

Thanks. I have seen blonde, redish to brown blk bears in that unit. Love hunting bear here. Good luck this fall. WishmI could hunt the fall hunt with my 2nd tag there. Now I just have to find a west side bear.
