What type, if any, knife sharpener do you carry with you when you are hunting?  Do you carry one for back country hunting?  Thanks guys.

same same

I've been thinking about swapping the knife for a good hatchet though, or just adding a lighter hatchet to the pack.  I'm not an ounce counter but my pack is getting a bit heavy

I have a Razor Lite Edge. I can bring back the edge with the EZ-Lap  without throwing a blade away. Pretty handy for both.

The answer, as always, is: "It depends."

Are you a bow hunter? If so, do you need to carry a stone to sharpen your broad heads in the field (probably not).

Otherwise, do you carry (feel the need to carry) a stone to sharpen your knife upon skinning/deboning an animal?  And, if so, could you leave your stone in the rig or at camp?

I bring a stone for both the knife and broad heads, but do not carry said stone in my day pack.  A single knife, with Havalon, is what I do now, same as Bob33.

I used to carry the diamond lap, then speedy sharp,  now this is the answer. It's carbide, ceramic and preset edge angles all in one.

I have a DMT diamond stone that is 1"x3" and folds into a little cover. Opened it is ~6"X1" and capable of sharpening any blade I have a need to sharpen.
