The section is currently offline while they work out some issues.

They removed the Special Hunt link and posted this message.

SPECIAL HUNT MESSAGE

The 2017 Special Hunt drawing has NOT yet occurred. The drawing will be completed before July 1, 2017.  As we prepare for the Special Hunt drawing, the Special Hunt link has been disabled within your WILD account. Once the drawing has been completed, the link will become available for you to review the results. If you are selected for a Special Hunt, you will be contacted via the email address in your WILD account.

I guess you could look at your points and if something drops to zero it would indicate you were selected. Most likely those will not change until the draw anyway. Have fun waiting!

The rumor I heard was that my son and I were drawn for everything we put in for and they are investigating how that could have happened without tampering.  I think it was just luck!!!   :-)

I agree.  I believe the new site has new many bells and whistles. Haven said that, I'm pretty sure the backdoor method of checking early results is a thing of the past.  I think that's a pretty good thing👍

Patience people...   the new and improved system is now making you wait until July for results!   Lol. I find this absolutely hilarious.   No more backdoor and just wait another month.

I did hear you're more likely to draw OIL's as a group with the new system though.

I wonder if it has something to do with the bear sprimg draw process and they are disabling it so that cant happen again

I would assume that's the case. Make sure they got it right before someone has a chance to see the results.

Remember when you had to wait for them to come in the mail. When they went to the computer/online system I could see a tag I was drawn for in 2007 and never received the card in the mail had no idea.

Great.... not only is there no backdoor that we know of, we're also going to have to change our acronym DNRY to "DHNYO"!!!! the nerve of this game department.....

In the government I've seen getting a yes or no answer to a simple question take two years. Boggles the mind !

^This. I think they are just covering their butts in case there is an issue with the drawing/results and they need the extra time to correct it without being bombarded by angry applicants. I'm expecting results in the next 2 weeks, similar to years past.

I just don't understand how in this day and age they can't be done within a few days of permit submission cutoff.

I think what takes the longest is that they make sure everyone who bought an application but didn't submit before the deadline gets their applications submitted. I don't agree that they should be doing that, but I've heard in the past that they do. This year they did give one extra day to submit applications, but I'm guessing anyone who had purchased an application and still was unable to get it submitted for whatever reason, would be allowed to submit after the extended deadline. There are also those every year who wait until the last night to buy a hunting license and special permit applications for their child who just completed a hunter education course, and don't realize that a first time hunter cannot purchase a hunting license online, it must be done at a license dealer so they can verify that person's hunter education certificate. I'm sure there are plenty of other exceptions as well, to the application deadline.

No doubt that's the case. It become very apparent several years ago when they changed the permit system from one category per species to 6 or 7 categories, at least for deer and elk. Made it much more complex and confusing, and just plain worse, while costing us hunters more money.

This is true, also the department has to go through all the applicants to make sure points are taken away if drawn and remain if not. Last minute applicants do delay the process. The new system, it sounds like, will be more efficient though.

A very simple computer program could manage all of the points in the entire system in mere nano-seconds.  Hopefully, they are not still doing this task by hand.

True, but the department doesn't run the draw, the new vendor this year is based out of Baltimore, I am not sure of the name. So our department needs to make sure the draw is correct after that vendor runs it.

Did you have any points in the second deer category? Any category with 0 points is getting updated daily. I too have 0 pts in my 2nd deer and I too applied for 2nd deer and I too have seen that category getting updated daily. The big difference is if you had any points at the time of submitting your permit application. It seems we have to try and figure the quirks of this new system all over again :bash:

Now that you mention it, I did get drawn last year so I would have had zero points.  All categories with zero points are updated as of 6/7.  I thought it was a sign that the draw was coming, but I guess not.  On a positive note, I hope to draw something better than second deer anyway.

Washington doesn't give a specific date but has always said "by the end of June." Usually results have been out a couple weeks sooner than that. I'd rather they post results as soon as possible, rather than just saying the results WILL BE POSTED JUNE 30. Because that would be the other option if they were to give a specific date.

I think they just love watching everyone try to log in every hour from the beginning of June until the draw.

Hopefully they post results at 11:59pm on June 30th and not a minute earlier.

If im not mistaken, results were out june 10th or so last year.  I keep seeing people get up in arms and its pretty funny. The average time (may 24ish to mid june) is by far the fastest turnaround of all the states i do. (Ore,wy,nev, utah, colorado).
In fact, utah takes like 2 months. Colorado is like 6 weeks.

Every year it is the same thing.  Remember, it is most likely that it will be done by june 15th. Not july....

I can say that there are witnesses to the permit draws and they haven't been notified of the date yet.

Fairly safe to assume the witness I know may not even possess a hunting license.

I know of another skunked witness too.

Remember the "inside job" that was uncovered in the Oregon draw?

Interesting article.

Not the one I wass referencing.

I can try to find a link later.

Short version:   some senior folkls with Oregon Fish and Wildlife (or whatever they're called) gamed the point system real bad with insider info.    It was cheating, plain and simple.

Cheaters.     >:(

I have emailed WDFW repetitively asking for results...
I just received the below picture in their latest email response.

Buy your sparklers.

Same here......They emailed me back with this.
perfect. Headed to Idaho for the week f the 4th. Close enough to do some moose scouting when I find out I draw. :chuckle: :chuckle:

The Oregon issue was with the insiders getting the information of a hunt being cancelled and If people put in for that hunt as their first choice and put in for what they really wanted as their second choice they were able to draw what basically amounted to their first choice and still be able to keep their points and gain another. The other issue in Oregon that went on for years was the percentage of sheep tags given to non-residents. For years it was less than the percentage outlined in their administrative codes. I called multiple times every year and rarely got the same answer twice. Once they told me that the raffle tags counted as non-resident. I replied that that was awesome knowing my odds of a raffle tag was so much better being residents were ineligible, it was completely silent on the other end of the phone then. I think they got tired of the calls because last I checked they were at least hitting the minimum on the non-resident quota.

why don't they start the whole process 2-3 months earlier like other states.  that way vacations and time off can be planned.   if it cant be done hire people who can.  to my knowledge Washington is the latest state to draw.  some states start in jan or feb.  mike w

Vermont moose has WA beat...Their deadline to apply is July 3rd.   Try planning time off for that one. :o
You mean I still have time?  :o  Hope the loser lounge doesn't flood their system. :chuckle:

I like the way Maine does their Moose drawing.  A specific date is made and they have all kinds of activities going on and it's in a different town every year from what I read online.  When they do the draw they actually call out the names.  Makes it more exciting in my opinion.

Doing it that way for all WA permits would take days but it's a cool tradition they have going.

Negative. I could still view my points after the special permits link was disabled. My points link just disappeared when I checked it about a half hour ago. I viewed my points as recently as this morning.
